Practice safe street photography techniques...Use a fast moving train, even when the subject is seemingly stationary.. errrr..for the very moment!

Story telling by a weak photographer, may be?
I must admit that I have too many weaknesses as a photographer. I am distracted a lot and I tend to distract the viewer too, possibly. I do have a strong subject here (street side lottery ticket seller) but to me, equally attractive is how and where he/it is placed, not only physically speaking. And then I try to exaggerate the beauty of all the entwined banyan tree roots/branches. Well it's hard and it's chaotic I guess. But still there is beauty in all that chaos.. methinks!

Yeh sahar bhoola mujhe mein bhi ise bhool gaya..
(This street has forgotten me and I forgot it too)

A line from the Hindi song "Aaina mujhse meri pehli si soorat mangi". Got up this morning with this line in my head and it has almost taken over my day having to find an image that would go with it. Had to submit to take it out of my head!

Taken in October, 2015 in Delhi.

Some things grow wild outside, while
Other things shrink inside..
What should fan the embers die
Due to a lack of oxygen, the life force within!

Disclaimer: My quote/journal above is an artistic expression as imagined by me based on this street photo, in reality, it bears no relevance to this man's life!

A gaze that extended to infinity...

A street photo from my archives taken in 2013 during the beginning days of my photographic journey once I started photographing anything other than my family decided to change my approach to photography with an intention to learn :)

She was selling bangles, sitting along side sign boards on the footpath of a busy street. I asked for permission to photograph her in sign language, she agreed and smiled.

And then, among the busy traffic and all the noise, I could see how she was time traveling. She was there but she was not there. She had to do what she had to do, wait for customers, probably little/younger girls who would come out of the shopping center that was in front of her!

I love the colors that she was wearing, blue clothes and a red duppatta (scarf that is around her head), but the look on her face asked for the colors to be taken out!

Five Days of Faces Challenge - Day 4 of 5

Thank you +Christine Bichler for inviting me to post (face) portraits for five days.  I wonder if +Rita Zietsma would find it interesting to join in the fun. I know she does great "people photography" :))

The rules are like most other challenges of this type:
1. Post one of your own face portrait picture freshly taken or from your archives for five days.
2. Tag your post with #fivedaysoffaces , mention the person inviting you and invite another photographer to join the challenge.
3. Have fun, be creative and bend the rules a bit if you need to ;))

Beaten down by life's paths... NOT !
In my case, first impressions turn out to be the best impressions, meaning.. I go around a full circle understanding the person and in the end, reach very close to the very first impression I got when I first met/interacted with that person! This is a stranger that I photographed on a beach in Kerala in 2014.

With monsoon clouds hanging right above our heads that day, my lens was all fogged up and my fingers were sticky. I did not realize the extend of humidity while I was there photographing.

My first impression of him happens to be one of a complex personality. One who may not be difficult to understand, but one who probably is difficult to deal with! But I also got this impression that, no matter what, this man is not one to be beaten down by a difficult life, he comes across as a fighter, no matter what life throws down his way!

Five Days of Faces Challenge - Day 3 of 5

Thank you +Christine Bichler for inviting me to post (face) portraits for five days.  It would be great if  +LoLo Rnx could join in the fun(I'm not sure if you already have), I am a big fan of his street photography/street portraiture!  I wonder if it's something that he might find interesting :))
