What Are The Benefits Of Juicing Marijuana?

Like most leafy greens, #marijuana is nutritionally dense and full of calcium, iron, vitamin K, fiber and antioxidants. Raw marijuana is an excellent source of protein, magnesium, Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids.

Cannabinoids interact with our endocannabinoid system; which manages anything from mood, appetite and pain. The interaction provides profound anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, anti-convulsion and mood enhancing benefits.

Is Hemp Oil the Secret to a Stress-Free Life?

What is it? Hemp oil is the byproduct of pressing hemp seeds, a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant species.

What are its benefits? Proponents say that hemp oil can modulate the body’s response to stress and fear, provide relief from nerve-related discomfort and help maintain balance in the gut. Basically, like adaptogens, hemp oil doesn’t rid your body of stress; it just helps you better deal with it.

Is it legal? Unlike #CBD which is in kind of a gray area, hemp oil is completely legal in all 50 states. Although #hemp and #marijuana are essentially varietals of the same plant—Cannabis sativa L—marijuana has been cultivated to concentrate high levels of THC (as much as 18 percent), whereas hemp, which is primarily grown to make clothing, paper, biofuels and foods, contains less than 0.3 percent THC.

Marijuana-Based Seizure Treatment Gets Positive Review From FDA

A closely watched medicine made from the marijuana plant reduces seizures in children with severe forms of epilepsy and warrants approval in the United States, health officials said Tuesday.

British drugmaker GW Pharmaceuticals is seeking permission to sell its purified form of an ingredient found in #cannabis — one that doesn't get users high — as a medication for rare, hard-to-treat #seizures in children. If successful, the company's liquid formula would be the first government-approved drug derived from the cannabis plant in the U.S.

The Food and Drug Administration's approval would technically limit the treatment to a small group of #epilepsy patients. But doctors would have the option to prescribe it for other uses and it could spur new pharmaceutical research and interest into other cannabis-based products. Man-made versions of a different #marijuana ingredient have previously been approved for other purposes.

The FDA posted its review of the experimental medication Epidiolex ahead of a public meeting Thursday when a panel of outside experts will vote on the medicine's safety and effectiveness. It's a non-binding recommendation that the FDA will consider in its final decision by late June.

10 Things You Never Knew About Cannabis Roots

No part of the #cannabis plant is useless.

Early Recorded History
The first recorded use of cannabis root as medicine dates back to roughly 2700 BCE in Shennong pên Ts’ao ching. Translated as The Classic of Herbal Medicine, this ancient Chinese text mentions that cannabis root was a remedy for pain relief. Dried and ground up to form a paste, the treatment was frequently used for broken bones.

In 79 CE, the Roman historian Pliny the Elder wrote in Naturalis Historia that cannabis root was boiled in water for joint cramps, gout, and acute pain relief.

In the early 18th century, English physician William Salmon echoed these claims with a cannabis root and barley mixture for treating sciatica and pelvic joint pain. Needless to say, using cannabis roots is in, well, our roots.

Endocannabinoid Deficiency Suspected As Cause For Fibromyalgia

The question is why does #cannabis seem to work so well? The answer, according to Dr. Ethan Russo, medical director of PHYTECS, is that those who have #fibromyalgia suffer from Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency (CED). When you replenish the depleted endocannabinoid system with the necessary cannabinoids, the symptoms disappear. Think of it in similar terms of someone with a Vitamin B deficiency feeling much better after taking supplements.

►For those who have studied the endocannabinoid system (ECS), you will know that its main function is to help the body maintain homeostasis. When the body is in homeostasis, it is free from disease.

►The ECS consists of cannabinoid receptors, C1 and C2, which are found in the brain, spinal cord, nerves, the stomach and other organs. It also controls many of our physiological processes such as pain, mood, memory and appetite. Our bodies naturally produce endocannabinoids, similar to those in cannabis. That keeps our ECS functioning properly. When the endocannabinoids are depleted, we experience disorder and disease.

First-in-Human Trial Of Cannabis-Based Therapy For Parkinson's Initiated

In pre-clinical studies, these complex cannabis-based formulas both increased dopamine production and demonstrated potential neuroprotective properties. The disease processes targeted by GB Sciences’ therapeutic mixtures are central to the progression of PD, as well as other related neurological conditions.

Marijuana Doesn't Seem to Harm the Kidneys
As marijuana use has increased in the United States in recent years, medical experts and users alike have wondered about its health effects.

Now, a new study finds there's no link between marijuana use and kidney disease -- at least among younger people who use the drug in moderation. -- "Research is needed to evaluate the impact of marijuana use in adults 60 and over, and among those with existing or at risk of developing kidney disease."

5 Reasons Why Cannabis Is Life-Changing For Inflammation

Chronic inflammation may just be the single most important risk factor for determining whether or not you’ll live a lifetime plagued by disease.

Diet, lifestyle, genetics, and environmental factors all contribute to whether or not excess inflammation is present in the body.

Over time, the burden of too much inflammation contributes to aging and illness.

While strong anti-inflammatory medications are often used to treat serious inflammatory disorders, lifestyle interventions and natural alternatives are rarely used as primary methods of inflammation control.

IS MARIJUANA THE WORLD’S MOST EFFECTIVE TREATMENT FOR AUTISM?

Autism spectrum disorder affects about 1 percent of children around the world, with disproportionately high rates in developed countries. In the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that one in 68 children has been identified as having ASD, a wide-cast net of a diagnosis that encompasses several complex brain disorders that make communication and other interactions difficult.

ASD has no cure, and most children’s symptoms are treated with medications approved for depression, anxiety or ADHD.

The rationale behind the treatment, and the reason it worked, came down to the marijuana plant’s two primary chemicals: the psychoactive agent tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and the antipsychotic cannabidiol (CBD).

The brain is filled with cannabinoid receptors, which are named after the plant and function like special locks to which THC is the key. When THC binds to cannabinoid receptors in the brain, several sensations flood the body, what marijuana users call “the high.”

CBD works differently, and often with opposite effects. It doesn’t bind directly to cannabinoid receptors, it’s not psychoactive, and it doesn’t alter how the brain functions. Instead, CBD interacts with the brain indirectly. That process, called modulation, combats psychosis, depression, inflammation, anxiety and depression.
