In what is believed to be the first study of its kind, older adults who scored high on cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) tests performed better on memory tasks than those who had low CRF. 
Older adults who experience good cardiac fitness may be also keeping their brains in good shape as well. In what is believed to be the first study of its kind, older adults who scored high on cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) tests performed better on memory tasks than those who had low CRF. Further, the more fit older adults were, the more active their brain was during learning.

Recently, researchers have found how just one session of moderate exercise can also act as an anti-inflammatory. The findings have encouraging implications for chronic diseases like arthritis, fibromyalgia and for more pervasive conditions, such as obesity.

The diet promotes only natural, nutrient-rich foods, which includes vegetables, fruits, meats and nuts."
Pediatric patients with active Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis can reach remission with diet alone.

Those sneaky bacteria! Is there anything they aren't involved in?
Researchers have shown in mice that intestinal microbes -- collectively termed the gut microbiome -- play an unexpectedly important role in exacerbated post-dieting weight gain, and that this common phenomenon may in the future be prevented or treated by altering the composition or function of the microbiome.

More bad news for the artificial sweetener aspartame. "We found that aspartame blocks a gut enzyme called intestinal alkaline phosphatase (IAP) that we previously showed can prevent obesity, diabetes and metabolic syndrome..."
A team of investigators has found a possible mechanism explaining why use of the sugar substitute aspartame might not promote weight loss. In their report, the researchers show how the aspartame breakdown product phenylalanine interferes with the action of an enzyme previously shown to prevent metabolic syndrome - a group of symptoms associated with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
