Head of the Greek god Dionysus. On dispaly at the Archaeological Museum of Thassos Island in Macedonia, in northern Greece. It was found at the east monument of the Sanctuary of Dionysus in ancient Thassos. 3rd c. BC.

Archaeological Museum of Thasos island in Macedonia, northern Greece

1. In the 6th Century BC the dead were buried in pits under the floor of the houses but children were buried in pots. The skeleton here shows he died of iron deficient anemia due to poor nutrition and lack of ferrous elements.

Head of Alexander the Great (1st c. AD) - displayed in the Archaeological Museum of Thasos island in Macedonia, northern Greece. The statue comes from a temple-like building near the Passage of the theoroi. It is a Roman copy of the Hellenistic prototype and it is bears evidence of the continuity of the cult of Alexander from the 4th century B.C. until the Roman times.

A nice complex sculpture (2nd - 3rd century AD). It presents Greek god Dionysus holding a glass of wine (previously emptied) and being supported by a Satyr. Small Pan is playing the pipe, while Eros and a panther are sitting at the feet of Dionysus. - Displayed in the Archaeological Museum of Kos island, Greece.
