Yellow flower in the sun

Do I get points for a creative title! :P I have no idea what this flower is but it looked nice in the sun. If anyone out there can help me out, that would be great.

This was one of the shots I took when testing out the Sigma's ability for macro. It was taken at 600mm from about 1.5 meters away. Not too shabby. I liked how there is so much contrast in this shot, to expose the flower correctly the background is so dark. Anyway, I haven't shared a flower for a while, so here you go :)

Poppy - Blue Mountains Botanic Garden
New South Wales, Australia

A poppy is a flowering plant in the subfamily Papaveroideae of the family Papaveraceae. Poppies are herbaceous plants, often grown for their colourful flowers. One species of poppy, Papaver somniferum, produces edible seeds, and is also the source of the crude drug opium which contains powerful medicinal alkaloids such as morphine and has been used since ancient times as an analgesic and narcotic medicinal and recreational drugs.

Following the trench warfare which took place in the poppy fields of Flanders, during the 1st World War, poppies have become a symbol of remembrance of soldiers who have died during wartime.

Nerium Oleander

I didn't realise when I had moved into my house that this beautiful fast growing plant was poisonous. I found this out after pruning it heavily with bare hands many times. Fortunately it's only dangerous when ingested in large quantities. This was one of the first ever shots I took with my canon 6d nearly a year ago. What do you do when you get a new camera but walk around your house taking photos of just about anything!

Anyhoo, I don’t do much flower photography, so not even sure if this is good, love to know what you think.

White Tulip
Royal Botanic Gardens - Sydney, NSW, Australia

I was walking through the beautiful botanic gardens last weekend. Moments after telling a friend how I don't really photograph flowers, I saw the way the light hit this tulip and couldn't resist... Out came the camera and I was off.. LOL

It actually feels like spring now in Australia so thought I would share this pic to celebrate. Hope your week is off to a good start!
