'Opening'
by Karin Lisa Atkinson
"I have had to learn that my voice has value.
And if I don't use it, what's the point of being in the room?
If you don’t get out there and define yourself, you’ll be quickly and inaccurately defined by others."
~ Michelle Obama

'New Possibilities'
by Karin Lisa Atkinson
"I know I am foolish enough
to always find a store of optimism,
to forgive everything
and wake up the next day, fully present,
having forgot the ruin
and destruction of the past day before.

I know that I am a loving person,
and that each moment is an opportunity
to redefine myself, to myself, for myself.

I know fully
that each day
is an exercise in discovering -
new ways to love myself,
no matter what…
and so the journey goes on -
until it ceases to exist…
My eternal I
further ventures
into the wonderland
of the bodiless soul of adventure -
I will never cease,
nor desist,
because without a doubt,
I know I fully exist."
~ Karin Lisa Atkinson

'New Creativity'
by Karin Lisa Atkinson
"Softly and cautiously from my mouth spilled
the stuttered lyrics of an ancient poem -
about a mountain that had a temple,
which housed a monk,
who told a story -
about a mountain that had a temple,
which housed a monk,
who told a story.
She giggled as I repeated the poem
each time she asked what the story was about.

She knew her part and I knew mine.
We both played our roles and found fun in the game.
We were philosophical about life and meshed.
We were fabric woven together at regular intervals,
a system related, connected parts,
paths that crossed in the manner
of strings threaded into a net.

We talked and she prayed
that someday ...
We would all Self-realize,
remember to see, that ...
We are all connected,
strands married in the web of life."
~ Karin Lisa Atkinson
Quote from her poem "We Are Strands Married In The Web of Life" (Tibet 1995)

'Liquid Consciousness'
by Karin Lisa Atkinson
"I hear the Fir Tree scabs ooze a healing substance:
I hear the loud chirp of cicadas
hiding in the trees
during the spring dust storms in Beijing -
I hear the honk of motorcycles
in the warring summer heat of Hanoi -
I hear the snorts of bulls
fighting in rings
in the autumn of Mexico -
I hear the cries of the farmers
wrapped in winter wools
arguing over prices at the market
on the border of China, Russia and Korea.

In the mean time
the planet’s crust peels away,
revealing our selves
to our selves ...
revealing our selves
and our meaning into the light ...
only below the surface,
just out of sight,
our truth is not hiding."
~ Karin Lisa Atkinson

'Moving From The Center'
by Karin Lisa Atkinson
"“I will love you for ever, whatever happens. Till I die and after I die, and when I find my way out of the land of the dead I'll drift about for ever, all my atoms, till I find you again ... I'll be looking for you ... every moment, every single moment. And when we do find each other again we'll cling together so tight that nothing and no one'll ever tear us apart. Every atom of me and every atom of you ... We'll live in birds and flowers and dragonflies and pine trees and in clouds and in those little specks of light you see floating in sunbeams ... And when they use our atoms to make new lives, they won't just be able to take one, they'll have to take two, one of you and one of me, we'll be joined so tight...”

Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise."

'Cycles of Affection'
by Karin Lisa Atkinson
The favorite flower of Leonardo da Vinci, the cyclamen, in the language of flowers, is a plant of lasting feelings and sincere affection. Giving someone a cyclamen expresses love and sincere tenderness.
“Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt,
and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen.”
~ Leonardo da Vinci 1452-1519 (Italy/France)

'Native Life'
by Karin Lisa Atkinson
"History will remember us
for what we imagined,
and for what we did.
Perhaps way in the future our children
will be inspired and taught
that thousands of years ago
lived some do gooders,
who united, together, created more.
Where there is will, there is a way,
where there is more will, there is way more."
