I was delighted to visit the Singapore American School in November and December as Consultant to the Art Department of the Elementary School. This blog post tells the story of an extraordinary time with the brilliant children and their talented teachers. Loved every minute!

Had a wonderful time at ChipLitFest in Chipping Norton last weekend. Here I am talking about Dinosaur Roar! and about to make pop up paper monsters with a huge crowd of enthusiastic children and their parents. Great children's festival programming from friends, fellow authors and First Draft band members, Jo Cotterill and John Dougherty.
Fantastic help from Helen and Tabitha as ever!

This Saturday sees the first outing this year for 'First Draft', our new 'LitPop' band. It's a free event and everyone is very welcome to join us in Chipping Norton Town Hall for our lighthearted exploration into the world of children's books!
Jo Cotterill, John Dougherty, Helen and I will be running events over the weekend amongst a starry cast of great Authors and Artists.
I'll also be exhibiting a selection of prints at the Albion Gallery, alongside Korky Paul and Andrew Wildman.

Day two in the amazing International School in Amsterdam. What an inspiring school, I have been humbled to be surrounded by bright sparky children from all over the globe, 5 and 6 year olds speaking perfect English ( and Russian, French, Dutch, Italian, Hungarian, Chinese etc etc etc.)
A school which seeks to let the children explore and play, to relish and nourish their creativity, developing their interpersonal and motor skills, as opposed to rigid rigid rote learning and constant testing. A school which teaches mindfullness over discipline. I haven't heard a raised voice in the last two days, in a school of 1300 children from 2 to 18. It's more like a university of play, exploration and discovery. No sats, no testing, all studying towards the International Baccalaureate, no pressure to choose your career path when you are 14, this has been a real eye opener.
It's making me wish that I had my teaching certificate, because I would love to work in this amazing atmosphere.

Hi Everyone! This Collection shows some of the work that I do with children and adults of all ages all over the UK and Europe, in schools, libraries and at children's and literary festivals.
Discussing and exploring the world of children's books through Dinosaur Roar! and Ten Terrible Dinosaurs, or running Monster, Dinosaur and Bug Pop Up Paper Workshops!
Often with the help of my wonderful wife, Helen and children, I've travelled the length and breadth of the UK working at colourful and fun festivals. We've shared the stage with the most fantastic collection of children's authors and illustrators.
I've visited every sort of school that you can imagine, worked with children of all ages and abilities and eaten innumerable school meals!

Next week I head to Amsterdam for three days of pop up workshops with the children of The International School. My first visit, I'm really looking forward to it.
If you are interested in a visit or event at your school, library or festival, contact me here, or via the page on my website below, where you find even more details.

#BugStore !
We had a wonderful sunny Super Saturday in Yeovil this weekend. Great fun and very busy.
So was the #BugStore !  Children brought their Mums and Dads, Grannies and Grandpas, brothers and sisters to see their fabulous paper creations installed in our sunny and colourful BugStore! It was a real delight to see their pride in their crazy paper bugs and I got so much positive feedback from everyone. It's been a particularly rewarding project and very popular with the shoppers in the town.
