A golden sunset witnessed from the ridge above #Hikkim.
.
I love camping on ridges as they offer panoramic views on both sides of the mountain. Here, I got to witness the sun going down on one side and the light creeping up on the other. Life doesn't get much better in moments like these.
.
Of course there are many downsides to ridge camping. You are totally exposed to the wind from both sides. And the biggest downside is the availability of water. You won't find any springs on ridges and will have to climb down to flatter slopes to find water .
.
And on this particular occasion there were no springs anywhere. All the springs had dried up. I searched for about an hour on either side of the ridge without any luck. I used what little water I had for cooking dinner that night.
.
Next morning I set off to #Komic hoping to find some springs on the way. But once again all the springs were dry and I got my first sip of water only after reaching Komic, some 4 hours later!
.
It has become a habit for me now. I tend to pick my camping spots for the views they offer (for my time-lapse videos) and live on very merge amounts of food and water. It has taught me to never take food and water for granted .
.
Always be thankful for what you have. #Merry #Christmas everyone .

A Kanamo sunset. Spiti, India.
A Kanamo Sunset.

After Tashigang, I headed to the Thaltak meadows. Thaltak is on the trekking trail between Kibber and Korzok. It is a long hike and hard from Kibber, so why go there?

You can see the reason why. Thaltak has the best view of the beautiful Kanamo peak. I visited Thaltak back in 2012 when I trekked solo from Korzok to Kibber. I knew how beautiful it was over there. So I returned to capture some time-lapse videos of Kanamo.

Just one example of the lengths I go to capture my time-lapse videos.

Sandwiched between light and shadow.

Ladakh has these multiple layers of hills leading up to the top of the mountains. The wonderful thing about these layers is how the light and shadows hit them. You have a layer which is completely bathed bright sunlight while the one next to is covered by shadows. All this makes for some very interesting subject for photography.

Twilight colors in autumn.

Another colorful sunset during the start of winter in #Manali. I love this time of the year as I can snap all these pictures sitting in the veranda of my home in #Khosla. A small village near Manali.

Fiery sunset above #Manali.

Winter brings with it some very colorful sunsets around Manali. The sun is slightly lower in the the sky down towards the horizon. This somehow throws up these amazing colors in the sky which I do not see during the other seasons.
