Crane and Red Barn

Where I live we've been having one of the warmest and driest summers for a long time (if not forever). Yesterday we got a couple of millimeters worth of rain. Not much, but it at least was enough to create some fog in the morning. As I photographer I of course love that, so I just had to get up early and get some shots.

Just a couple of hundred of meters from home I ran into this crane who was out for his morning walk (I watched him walk some hundred meters...). In the background there's a typical Swedish barn, red and white.

One of many photos from an enjoyable morning :-)

Storforsen

Storforsen is a rapid in Piteälven in northern Sweden. With a flow of 250 m3/s it is one of the largest in Europe. When it peaks during summer it can be up to 900 m3/s. The drop is about 60 m and the view is magnificient! You can get up close to the waterfall, where the sound is deafening. On the right side there is a lot of smaller waterfalls and there's also a lot of fireplaces where people can bring their food.

It's a perfect place to visit with family. So far I've been there three times, but there will be more!

Winter Oak

In the area where I live there's quite a lot of oaks. "Naked" oaks without all the leafs really make perfect subjects for photography. On this day I was out to catch the snowstorm. But since it really wasn't much of a snowstorm something else had to be done. When we passed by this beautiful oak we of course had to stop the car :-)

Actual winter

Finally we've had a couple of weeks with real winter. There's snow and it's been rather cold. Yes, I do like that :-)

Autumn Reflection

I must say I was really glad when I found this spot. All different tones from green to red in one place, perfectly reflected in the water. Yep, I got a bunch of photos :-)

Tree Skeleton I

An old tree sinking into the sand by lake Vättern. A grey and windy day. Just what I love!

Summer Evening

From one of the few summer evenings I was out on the boat. Summer really hasn't been that not good, few hot days, almost always a bit windy and for the last part of summer it's been raining. A lot. Oh well, there's always other things to do :-)

Fällforsen

I have spent a couple of days up in northern Sweden. On our way to Storforsen, one of the biggest remaining rapids in Europe, we passed by Fällforsen. It's a much smaller rapid in the same river, but still great to watch. There's something about flowing water that really makes you forget everything else. With rapids like this you can feel it in your body, with the constant thunder and ever changing flow of the water.

Soon it's snowing on Omberg

Omberg is a mountain, although not very tall. Not at all actually... It's just 263 meters above sea level, and 175 above lake Vättern. But since the surrounding landscape is so flat, it still rises a bit. It also has some very interesting nature, which can't be found nearby.

On this particular March day the sun was shining, but all of a sudden clouds rolled in and a snow storm appeared. Perfect photo opportunity :-)
