I lived in Barrewoods for about 2.5 years (and would have lived there longer, but fiancée and I bought a house). Overall, I had a great experience living there. The staff at the front office is very helpful. They are friendly and host events once a month for the residents. These vary from a BBQ in the summer to a Super Bowl party in the winter. The front office has free coffee when it's open and it's easy enough to get to the mail area, gym, and other facilities within the main building. The pool is very nice to lounge around in and was never overcrowded in the time that I lived there, but still had people around during the main times during the day. Maintenance was very responsive, friendly, and quick to resolve issues. The community is very pet-friendly. It's also handy to have a free car wash on the property for the residents. The apartment itself (the Vizio floor plan, the 1BR with a study) was a good amount of space for one person and a decent amount for two people (assuming they don't have TOO much stuff). I only ever heard a neighbor through the walls once, and that was in the bathroom and was barely noticeable. The rooms themselves are fairly large and the high ceilings give a great impression of more space. Water and trash are a flat fee per month (dumpster and recycling area centrally located) and electricity is reasonable for electric heating and cooling. The facility can have AT&T UVerse and Google fiber hooked up. I recommend Google Fiber, because available UVerse speeds data speeds at the time maxed out at 24Mbits (about 18-20 wired, 15-16 wireless real-world speeds). Much higher output from Fiber. A few things to be aware of. It may be best to rent a covered parking spot because the free spots in some areas can be hard to come by near your building after about 9:30-10pm. There are some younger people who may throw parties, but it's not excessive or overly noisy in my experience. If someone does park in your reserved spot, the new Resource Officer is fantastic, and if he's paged he will ticket and work to have the car towed out ASAP. In the end, if I hadn't moved into a house, I would probably still be living there. It's a great facility and I highly recommend it.

I loved my experience at Barrewoods and wish I could have stayed longer (I only moved for location reasons). I never had any issues with management and they always responded promptly. My apartment was spacious, clean, and updated.

Barrewoods has the WORST management - completely unprofessional. They don't care about anything once they have your money. I signed a lease for a specific apartment 2 months in advance. A week before I was to move in they e-mailed me to let me know that I could no longer have the apartment because the current tenants decided not to move. It was like they thought it was perfectly fine that they broke our contract. They expected me to take one of their random open apartments that I had not agreed upon. They would actually make money that way having 2 apartments filled. I told them that legally I had a contract for that specific apartment and they should make the other tenants move into one of the other vacant apartments but they didn't want to do that. When I talked to the manager, Denise, she could care less about the inconvenience this was causing me .. all this 1 week before I was set to move in. Needless to say, I didn't rent at Barrewoods and I found an awesome apartment somewhere else with a staff who was shocked when I told them about the treatment I was given at Barrewoods. To top it all off, they never returned the $200 administration fee that was used to RESERVE that specific apartment. They ignored my lawyer and the Better Business Bureau, and my last option is to take them to small claims court. It's obvious they don't care about their reputation. I am only giving them 1 star rating because I have to ... I would give them NO stars if I could. If this is how they treat people BEFORE they have their business, I can only imagine the poor management tactics used on a daily basis. It's probably a blessing to me that this all happened because I probably would have regreted moving there anyway.

Excellent apartments, beautiful area, nice and cooperative staff, and good amenities. However, despite advertisements to the contrary, the provided wi-fi doesn't work; rent is a bit high considering how far from downtown you are; and parking is sometimes a problem. Overall, however, I'd recommend if you want to live/work up north.

This place is a dog kennel. The apartment below me has 4 large dogs that continually bark all night most of the grass in front of the apartments is dead due to the dog urine. Had I only realized I was moving into a dog pound I would of been somewhere else.
