Taking Advantage of Friends in Faraway Places - have you got friends and family who live in places that would be great for a holiday?

The Birmingham Wildlife Festival and badger march against the cull yesterday was a real success, and meeting Bill Oddie made my day :o)

Smoking!

So, having just started working with a well known international nicotine replacement brand (I'll be writing their adverts for the Nordic market for the whole of next year!), I think it's about time that I gave up. Again.

Haven't tried for about 7 years, but in total I've probably given up 10 times. The best method I found was The Easy Way to Stop Smoking (book), I'm sure it contains Jedi mind tricks, it was that good. Well, not THAT good because I started again, obviously, but it was the method that worked best for me - I was actually a happy non-smoker, no climbing the walls and going to sleep at 5pm every night just to get away from the cravings.

I generally smoke an e-cig during 'working hours', but hoping in January to stop completely.

Anyone else trying/planning to quit?

I'm really busy at the moment catching up after I was ill, and I also have an influx of magazine commissions! Mainly cat/pet trade mags, and it's keeping me busy on the run-up to Christmas and also attracting lots of new business clients from the cat world!

I was hoping to have a couple of weeks off over Christmas but I don't think that' going to happen. Boo. For those of you who run your own business, how much time do you have off?

Plus . . . my latest article ;)

Hello everyone, I've been really poorly for the last few weeks so haven't been up and about much. I'm back now though :).

I have a Twitter question/observation. It really annoys me when I follow someone and get an (obviously automated) message back saying something like 'thanks for the follow, please like our facebook page/sign up for our mailing list/nominate us for an Oscar/whatever'. I just delete straight away, but if the message started with 'Hi Emily', I'd be happy to do what they were asking (within reason, obviously!). What are your thoughts?

Evening all. This probably isn't very interesting unless you're planning on making the transition between a 9-to-5 and self-employment . . . but this blog was a real inspiration to me when I was making the decision to turn my freelance writing into a full-time business, so I'm hugely excited about guest posting on it! :o)

OK, so I know it's not #caturday  (although it really should be, every day!), but I wanted to share an interview I did with a fantastic Australian cat website - Pawesome Cats.
