My Google Drive daemon is apparently causing Finder to crash sometimes plus significantly increases the CPU load to 60-70%. So for now, once the syncing is on, the computer is just heating up, spinning up fans as crazy. Another fuckup at launch, Google? Too bad, Google Drive, there it goes, back to Dropbox... Apparently I am not alone having this issue and Google is silent...

The holistic approach - mantra of these days? Should it not be obvious already?

A bit of thought on "the new iPad". I own the original iPad released in 2010. And I own iPhone 4 released only few months after that. Being a device junkie (not necessarily Apple junkie, they just happen to make best devices at the moment), I have felt surprisingly little push to upgrade to the newest generation. True, in case of iPhone, the 2 years contract is playing role, but with iPad, owning now a device that is two generations old, just seemed to me a little bit unusual (true, Siri is fun and it would be good to have basic camera for Skype on iPad).

But when thinking about it, it just started to make sense - first, Apple pushed so hard in industrial design, that they arrived to the stage, when it is difficult to further innovate at this moment. Second point is use of materials: my oldest piece of hardware from Apple is early 2009 MacBook Pro and after nearly 3 years of use, it in fact looks better than one year younger ThinkPad X300. I take care of the devices, but the aluminum shell just does not age so much as plastic and the chassis doe not start squeaking or cracking, like other machines. With durable and great looking design archetypes, what motivation do we have to buy the new devices (except playing games that really use the HW to the max)?

Last two keynotes (iPhone 4s and the new iPad), I was just not so much impressed, except with Siri. Everything else, more pixels on the display, better cameras, faster graphics, faster on-the-go downloads - none of this disrupts the way we use the devices today, none of this brings new usage patterns, none of this really changes our lives. Go get a $100 refurbished iPad and you will receive 85% of the new iPad experience for 20% of money (I do say that even though I did not touch one yet ;-). Now where the hell is the iPad mini? I would line up for that one. Please?

I am seriously thinking about ditching iPhone for Nokia Lumia 800. The thing looks awesome and recent direction in design of iOS is disturbing.
