Going to get some classical music streaming in our practice. I hear it calms the beast. Come into Animal Care of Oradell, grab a Bavarian cookie and coffee at our client appreciation station and link up to our Wifi while you and your pet are immersed in some soothing sounds. Who says your workplace can't be a Zen spot for your soul to hang out for the day.

The food police would say "just put down the treat bag and back away from the pet slowly" ......Remember that a healthy animal will always appear hungry and eat whenever food is placed in front of them. If your pet is leaving food in their bowl they are probably either overfed or possibly sick. When I say sick it could even be dental disease a hidden danger under their lips that is often neglected. Take a look in your pets mouth and imagine if that was your mouth. Would you do something about it? Do you think it would be uncomfortable. Make sure you or your veterinarian is checking their mouth out on a regular basis. If your veterinarian is not addressing your pets weight concern with time in the exam room then they are ignoring the elephant in the room, literally. Our pets don't feed themselves we do it to them, remember that you are in control. Be strong and let's stop killing them with kindness.

A great review for our doctor from a pleased client:
From:  Jeri Portner
I would like to share my thoughts with all of you regarding Dr Hurst. Approximately 3 years ago I had the utmost pleasure of meeting Dr Hurst at another Animal Hospital. At that time I had a Collie about 12 years old. The dog had gotten ill and my regular vet was on vacation.

This gentleman was the most caring, warm understanding professional I have dealt with in an extremely long time. I have had dogs all of life and by far this gentleman makes you feel that you and your animal are the only thing that is important to him while he is with you- He gives you his total concentration and understanding. My dog fell in love with him too. He even called me to follow up with the dogs progress. With the great dedication and knowledge of Dr Hurst, I got to enjoy my dog for several more months that I thought would not be possible. I also found him to be extremely aware of financial situations too -- and did what he could to help without ever compromising the animals health. Unfortunately due to another health issue, my dog crossed the rainbow bridge- I have never thanked Dr Hurst for all he did for us and would like to public do that now and here. I still have not gotten another dog, but if and when I do there is only 1 Vet that I would ever go to- and I think you all know who that is----I wish him the most success with his new hospital and I know it will be a huge asset to our area.

Thanks to all the wonderful supporters we met this weekend at Oradell's K9 Karnival. There was a great turnout and the weather was wonderful. We donated a gift basket to raise money for town events worth $350 in services. Many people seemed very excited to see a general practice veterinary hospital move into town. Lets hope all the excitement stirs up alot of healthy pet visits starting May 8th. Remeber to tell all your friends that by "liking" us on Facebook or "adding" us on Google Plus they will receive one free exam during the months of May and June. That's a $65 value right away to our already very affordable prices. Thanks again.
