After struggling with trying to figure out how various pieces fit together, I've done some research and put together the complete Android Activity/Fragment lifecycle chart. This has two parallel lifecycles (activities and fragments) which are organized vertically by time. Lifecycle stages will occur in the vertical order in which they're displayed, across activities and fragments. In this way, you can see how your fragments interact with your activities.

In addition to the attached image, I've also got an SVG: http://staticfree.info/~steve/complete_android_fragment_lifecycle.svg which is suitable for printing.

If this is missing lifecycle steps or is inaccurate in any way, let me know so I can update it!

I am thinking about buy a domain use for my email, and probably setup a minimalist site/business card (and maybe a blog). Any recommendations on where you buy a .com, .io and/or .dk domain?

I ended up buying larshesel.dk and am now using gratisdns.dk and fastmail.fm. Pretty happy with the setup right now... mxhotel does seem like an interesting alternative, might consider it in the future.

Do you check the permissions when installing an Android app?

The list of Android apps I am holding back from updating is becoming annoyingly big. Apps like Skype, Dropbox, Twitter, Facebook etc etc are claiming permissions that are growing from Suspicious to Outrageous.

Google have totally flunked the security game on Android.

Maybe I'll do the same, I dunno. I was planning on upgrading the app and then restricting it with the semi-hidden permission panel in KitKat, but apparently that was removed in the last Android update. So now I'm a bit in trouble: the Facebook app has been complaining for some time about me using an outdated version, so it will probably stop working soon.

I use this to learn Spanish. It's really good!

Friends don't let friends spend money on language learning software.

We've quickly grown into an amazing community of 15 million language learners, with 5 million people joining us over the past 2 months alone! All this through the power of word of mouth...

...and that's just the beginning of this movement.

Scalpel - A surgical debugging tool to uncover the layers under your app.

Combine hierarchy viewer, overdraw display, and a splash of gratuitous 3D for an on-device interactive model of your view tree.

https://github.com/JakeWharton/scalpel

I slapped this together in a few hours so it may be a bit rough (especially in the partial 3D conversion). I'd love to get some contributions in. Here's your (and my initial) inspiration: http://revealapp.com/.

Hey, I'm thinking about moving away from Ubuntu. I don't like where the distribution is heading (Mir, Unity, opt-out send-my-searches-to-canonical, etc).

Any recommendations on other Linux distros? I'm thinking about maybe Debian or something like it. Something without bells and whistles. I'll add those myself.

Thoughts?

Canonical and Ubuntu does a lot of custom hardware enablement and sometimes receive special patches and other help directly from vendors. Also, major (proprietary) driver vendors somewhat align their releases with the Ubuntu releases so Ubuntu has the latest warez.
