Its great having a movie theater so close to my house in South Austin. Pros Able to do date night on a budget here because you can roll the food and movie all into one. So that's at least one hour less for the baby sitting cost. They have assigned seats, so you can buy online and pick the perfect seats without having to stress out about getting to the theater super early. The seats are pretty comfortable and stepped in such a way that there is no concern that a head will block your vision. Cons The parking lot can get quite crazy at times. The popcorn and milk shakes are not what I would call cheap... but I think that's the norm at any movie theater. The food has been hit or miss with a swing from being good on one outing to being just so-so on the next.

Consider them a great company, and our experience is always great (leaving quality of Studio movie out of evaluation): they strive for good food, they strive for good experience, their own screen content around studio feeds is creative, professional and enjoyable. the seat reservation system works. they are flexible when we have messed up (oops, "you purchased tickets for last night, not tonight. We are sold out, but here is coupon because we trust you as a customer.") My kids, now middle and high schoolers, all default to the joint for birthday celebration destination. Winner-winner-chicken-dinner :)

Not a fan. The food is not very good. Can you say garlic??? The serving staff act like they are doing you a big favor to let you watch a movie there, as if for the same price you couldn't just go to the Moviehouse on 620 and get a RECLINING, comfortable chair and not have to share a table with a total stranger! Not to mention that it feels like 45 degrees in the theater. But wait! I forgot that the overall attitude is Just Deal With It - you are lucky to be there, even when the theater is 90% empty and the food doesn't have to be very good since they are bringing it to you from a mile away.. On the plus side, the pre-preview cartoons and snippets are unique & entertaining.

I had 2 $10 food vouchers. My work shift ends at my job at 11:30pm on a Tuesday. I am unable to even use them now due to your RIDICULOUS policy. This is what Clark Howard calls CUSTOMER NO SERVICE. How do you expect a guesto to want to come back if you can't get them to feel welcome before even getting to your front doors?????

This is one of my favorite drafthouse locations. It's newer so the design has the tables in between seats, which I prefer to the long bench table. It's offers the same excellent service you expect from a drafthouse. The attached bar is a great place to spend time outdoors if you get there early as well. The parking is the only thing that can be an issue but you'll always find a spot - just may have to walk a bit!

I payed 5 dollars for a simple beer there. I got home after my show and food and found that for some reason my card was swiped FOUR times upon payment for the food. There was a charge for an incorrect amount twice, reversals and then finally a proper amount. I didn't leave a tip because I don't have to, so I think an employee was trying to add a tip on for themselves and then decided against it. Caught in the act my friends. Also, the food was bottom bar. 12.50 for THAT burger was offensive. I can go to Gordoughs and get a better specialty burger for half the price.

2 Awful experiences in less than a month. First we took our kids to see Big Hero 6 for dinner and a movie. We arrived 30 minutes early, as suggested, and placed our food an drink orders. We ordered and appetizer and a few dinner items. Our drinks took forever and came out wrong the first time and then after about an hour with no food, I had to get up and leave the movie to find someone (no one had come by our table for 20 minutes) and turns out our food was never even turned in. They finally brought our food as the checks were being handed out toward the end of the movie. The next visit, my husband and I decided to give them another try for a much needed date night. As the movie was about to start we noticed a guy standing oddly in the isle next to us staring at everyone. Right as the movie was starting I leaned into my husbands ear and "WHISPERED" to him to make sure he turned his cell phone ringer off. 2 seconds later, the man standing in the isle came over and said "there is no talking in the theater". Strange that he felt the need interrupted the start of the movie to come over and tell us this when we were not at all disturbing anyone around us. I understand the "No Talking" policy is there to ensure that others have a good experience but this guy was taking it a bit too far. My husband went to talk to him and he even admitted he didn't hear us say anything but "saw" me whisper in his ear. Turns out this guy was the general manager, and when we asked why he felt it necessary to interrupt the start of the movie to reprimand us for something so ridiculous he replied, in a very arrogant and rude manner, that he was the general manager and someone could have "interpreted" what we did as rude. Let me say again that the movie had just started and the Warner Brothers sign was still on the screen when I whispered into my husband's ear. I understand there is a policy in place to ensure people can enjoy the movie free of loud obnoxious people but are you seriously telling me you can't even whisper to the person next to you for 2 or 3 hours. I don't know many people who would find this offensive or disruptive especially if you can't hear the people talking. What about the waiters who repeatedly come by and quietly confirm your order? Does this fall into the category of disruptive behavior? Are they going to ban even leaning into the person next to you or kissing them on the cheek or putting your arm around them as this might interrupt someone's movie experience. Needless to say. he didn't seem to care at all that he ruined our movie and was unapologetic for reprimanding us so senselessly. He was way too concerned with his ego and making us look like the bad guys and made sure to tell us more than once that he was the general manager and the lead in charge that night.

This is my favorite location because they have a restaurant and did I mention its right by my house? Parking is a little hard to find when they're busy.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema hasn't shared anything with you.
