Despite what the title might suggest at first, Understanding the Process of Economic Change does not offer a clear-cut, straightforward prescription for evolving economies. In fact, Douglass North frequently, and quite convincingly, warns against simplistic and reductionist approaches to economics. Through the exploration of key factors and mechanisms of every economy, he clarifies the pitfalls of prescriptive road-maps to economic prosperity that lack a comprehensive understanding of the social, political, demographic, and institutional characteristics of the economy.

Many view the microcredit program as 'the way' to "help the poor help themselves." For a casual audience of international aid, any reference to the microfinance program immediately brings out Bangladesh and the Grameen Bank. That is why, in this article, I use them to question the effectiveness of the program in empowering the poor.

In this short essay, I briefly review #Myanmar's country #risk. It is based on an article by Credendo Group, titled Democracy dividend bolsters the positive economic momentum. The essay contains several approaches to country risk, including currency crisis, the monetary approach, the elasticities approach, and financial risk as well as the political and non-economic risk factors.

The recent lowering of the ratings of Australian banks by credit rating agencies, such as Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s, has rekindled the debates on the health status of the Australian economy. At first glance, anti-racism is simply a positive, altruistic act. There is an evil, #racism, that you need to conquer and in doing so, feel like a saint. But it's a little more complicated than that.
There are two general approaches to anti-racism: universalist and relativist. Mixing the two or using one in the wrong context can reinforce racism rather than reduce it.

In this essay, I attempt to explain how #power and #knowledge influence each another. To that end, I first present various definitions of power and discuss which one is more comprehensive and thus, I use in this essay. Then, on the basis of this definition, I explore the effects of power and discuss the strategies by which power influences knowledge. The interaction of the components, however, is not in one direction but reflexive. Thus, I devote a section to the explanation of the effect of knowledge on power.

This essay compares the ideas of Michal Kalecki and John Maynard Keynes, with specific focus on two questions. First, is Kalecki a Keynesian? And second, are there distinctions between Keynes’ and Kalecki’s positions on full employment?

Only the unique is permitted to the realm of joy and pain. The unique is uncountable. Two is inapplicable to it. Two negates, even slays, the unique's raison d'etre. So, the unique is not one. One merely exists to pave the way to two.
