An excellent article on dealing with technical debt, understanding what is technical debt (hint, technical debt is *not* bad code). Dealing with technical debt is a daily occurrence and coming up with the best compromise is a conversation (note, not a fight) to be had.

If you are a programmer or engineer, you should read this article to help you define where you are and help you relate to those of less technical understanding. If you are one of those with less technical understanding and frequently work with programmers and engineers, you absolutely must read this article to help you make informed decisions and understand the ramifications and outcomes of those decisions.

Vulnerable to the #shellshock bash security vulnerability and not able to just run `sudo apt-get install bash` to fix it? Check out https://shellshocker.net/#fix for their quick and easy compile from source script. This is great if you're running a non LTS version of Ubuntu or happen to be running version 11.04

Awesome! Just discovered the entire Trigun OVA is available on Netflix streaming! If you enjoy anime and you've never seen this series, I highly recommend it.

"Google buys Boston Dynamics, the world’s scariest robot developer" http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/OmMalik/~3/cmrEhL23jI4/

So it seems the phrase "I, for one, welcome our Google overlords" and "I, for one welcome our robot overlords" now mean the same thing...

On the upside, I wonder if there's some good stuff that could come out of these robotics minds in conjunction with Google's automated cars?

"Chromecast in 2014: an open SDK, big international plans and maybe even new devices" http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/OmMalik/~3/pEtwZXhY2gs/

Exciting to see this device take on such adoption and the expansion focus Google is giving it in the coming year. What an awesome $35 investment!

Heck yeah. I love San Diego and its great to hear this sort of rebuttal to Mashable's post. The mentality of trying to be another city is often expressed and chased in the tech scene here - well I've got news for your, we can only be who we are and we need to embrace that.
