Good restaurant with high quality food. The meat used in the restaurant comes from one of the best butchers in Dublin, J.W. Smyth in Portmarnock. While I wouldn't describe the food as amazing it is very good and high quality ingredients are used for every meal. The service is friendly and professional. As with several other restaurants in Malahide, Sale e Pepe have a good value early bird menu available. If however you are ordering when this isn't available to food can appear to be on the expensive side.

We were in town for one evening and our hosts took us here for dinner. The food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was low-key and friendly. We ordered 4 appetizers so as to sample several things. All were tasty in their own right, but it was the entrée that was so good. All four of us had the special, which was a delightful hake with asparagus. The server recommended the garlic potatoes over the other options and I was not disappointed. We shared a bottle of merlot, and two desserts, and then the hostess told us we had a complimentary drink awaiting us. Of course, I had to have a little Irish whiskey (although I'm partial to the Scotch myself). Considering we had four appetizers, four entrees, two desserts, and a bottle of wine for 120 euros, I found it to be an exceptional value. I'm not sure where the folks are eating that considering this place overpriced...we loved it and thought it was a great value.
