Shared via the Foxborough Police Facebook page: Beware of US Treasury Phone Scam

The Foxborough Police have received over a dozen reports over the last two days of a phone scam from phony callers stating they are from the US Treasury Office. The fake caller identifies himself as calling from the US Treasury and requests personal information. The fake caller has also reportedly threatened the victim with legal action if they do not comply with the information requests.

DO NOT give any information to these callers! Simply hang up the phone.

Beware that these type of callers often spoof Caller ID so it may appear as the US Treasury. To confirm a call from any State or Federal agency, the best practice is to find the number in the phone book or on-line (from entities official web page) and call them direct. Do not call back on a number that was provided by your caller ID or the person that made the call. #Massachusetts
