If you work at heights exceeding 15m, or in some cases even 10m, you better check your public liability insurance to make sure you're still covered.

To show the true value of having the right tradesman insurance in place we've put together a couple of real life case studies.

It includes the story of the following three tradies:

1.  An electrician who claimed around $30k after damaging electrical components.
2.  A carpenter who had around $7k worth of tools stolen from his trailer.
3.  Another carpenter who was paid six weeks' pay from his income protection after a nasty incident with a nail gun.

Have a read through them and we're sure you'll agree that having the right insurance in place is definitely a good idea for a tradie!

If you were to suffer an untimely death either on the work site or elsewhere, what would you want for your loved ones?

It's a tough question to answer, but if you're like most tradies, ultimately you'll want to ensure that your loved ones are not burdened with your debts and that your dependants do not suffer financial hardship.

How can all this be achieved unless you have to have a six or seven figure bank balance?  The answer is life insurance.

In our latest guide we look at how much life insurance a typical tradesman may need, and how you can calculate your own needs.

Is accidental injury insurance a good option for a tradie?  Probably not, but it's better than nothing.

Unlike income protection which will pay you an ongoing income whilst you are unable to work due to injury or illness, as accidental injury insurance policy will simply pay you a set amount for certain injuries.

Whilst it is certainly not a comprehensive form of insurance, it is better than nothing if you are simply looking for cheapest form of cover that will at least pay you something if you are injured on the work site.

Here at Tradesman Insurance we don't deal in accidental injury insurance, but we have put together a guide (see link below) which provides information on this form of cover for tradies.
