I've been meaning to do this for quite a while, but #clmooc has inspired me to finally start my own blog. Please check it out and join the conversation!

Thanks for your support, everyone! I am trying to avoid the common pitfall that many of you have mentioned of starting a blog and then not sticking with it, so please enjoy my second post! In it, I give my take on the controversial National Council of Teacher Quality Teacher Prep Review that was released this week.

If we look in places others might overlook, who knows what wonders await?

Discussion  -

This is the first time that I'm experimenting with MOOCs and I found this amazing roundtable discussion about them and their relationship to the humanities at the LA Review of Books. Check it out!

Welcome to #clmooc . Thanks for sharing this and injecting some discussion of MOOCs into this MOOC. It strikes me that this roundtable approaches from different angles the pressure MOOCs put on higher ed.

When the discussion in the roundtable turned to weighing the positives and negatives of MOOCs, I was reminded  of this straightforward categorization of three types of MOOCs that Lisa Lane created last year.
http://lisahistory.net/wordpress/2012/08/three-kinds-of-moocs/

+Stephen Downes  questions how big the separation is between task-based and network-based MOOCs but otherwise liked Lane's list. http://www.downes.ca/post/58913

For me, this stuff is interesting to think about at the start of the MOOC.
