Children Learn What They Live
If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence. If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.By Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D.

Love Superman.
those kids look like superwoman
By Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D -- If you quote someone else's writing, please give the source.
If children learn to live without "no", they learn selfishness
GoLd Ld
@Albert your so right, they really become selfish when you dont say NO to them
also become useless if you spare the rod on them
kids are fun.. they kid.. that's why they're called kidZ
Yes! They are ANGES!!!ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ
Parent should frame this to put on their wall where it can be a visual reminder and motivator to be the best parent you can be. When you have children, you love them so much that you want them to experience all the happiness they can.

That's so right
Children, like little people, react differently to various stimuli. This kind of feel good blanket overview helps no one.
Haaaaaaaam.where is here?I love children and ice cream.OooO superman or supen woman? They are so lovely
What an amazing discovery! Who would have thought?!
we must teach them well  & lead the way ^_^

Let's try to make all our girls (and boys too), super.
There is a huge amount about this kind of thing written by serious scientists, psychologists etc. See the Oxford Book of Evolutionary Psychology as a good example. Children learn from their peer group. So, if you want them to grow up to be nice people......
super kids ^.^ love it .. sooooo cute
If children live with Internet, the post repetitious drool.
I love children .because children sweet and true .
Well Dorothy Nolte has a TON of time on her hands. haha. Very nice..
it explains adult desposition and how inconsiderate we cab when relating to others and that's odd. beside kids don't do all that stuff
those kids look soooo cute
My problem with this is that children in fact do seem to believe that the world is a nice place in which to live... and it just isn't. While I support the premise of the quote, I reject the conclusion.
I have no word to explain about this
I may say
Very Very nice
I love children, they are the most beautiful gift of God...........
I would be the kid with icecream all over my face XD
may all adults understand this and take the first step to make the change needed for a wise and fair society.
lool true say and the girls look soooo cue!!:D
So so so true!!!! It's also very good coz this generation of kids are mainly low-lifes! Trust me! This is coming from a 13 yr old girl!
Hi Anna, Nice ......................little Su..............childs
But you have the choice to decide weather life is fair or not. Life is something in and of it's self
Jr Hat
Thats a long post
got that in my living room
of those words
But, children need to learn that life is not fair and not everyone gets a fair shake which might be the hardest for them to understand.
When parents nurture children, we have hope for the future. We are not just raising children, we are raising future Mothers, Fathers, Aunts, & Uncles, who will one day raise children themselves.
They need to learn to live with all of that to become a well rounded individual in adulthood.
.....and then Bicycle Repair Man comes along.  lol
This is short monkey see monkey do...Parents are the most important role models for their children...What they are taught and around will in most cases define who they are and how they deal with life as adults.. So love and nurture your kids and the world will be a better place....
I Totally agree!!! The kids are our future people! We need to teach them how to make the world better!
Aw are they your kids? I love their outfits!!
If children live with Xbox, they learn ace hand/eye coordination!
cuteeeeeee,,,,,,,,,,,,, superbbbbbb
But The world is not a nice place

let me share pls
I see people that grow up with praise and approval turn out to be self center egotistical narcissists.especially if they had a silver spoon.
Beautiful writing
wow that deep
that's a fact!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice thought.. really apreciated , the parents should better know.... keep it up
Now i want some ice cream! LOL
Children never exposed to reality are in for a huge letdown when they get out in the cruel world.

You forgot "if children live with overprotective parents, they learn to rebel"

My parents always thought they needed to think for me and find a husband to take care of me. Never learned how to take care of myself until I finally left home.
I read this about 30 years ago and it still holds up as true. thanks
Oh my God, I cannot being to express how grateful I am to my parents for giving me SUCH a good environment and upbringing and turn out to be a well rounded person!
That was beautiful words<3 so true n those kids are wonderful<3
Hmmm.... This may be the best moral equivalent against war and aggression. Unfortunately, there are many (adults) who still wish upon themselves not to be treated in this manner. Therin lies a paradox in education. #truth #true #beauty
I agree with you Jenny, I became rebel too because of my parents being overly protective. People don't think of that. They think just like they think, I can't love you enough, neither can I protect you enough. Or I just can't let you go. Well as I say, Let me go or loose me forever.
if children live with burgers and sugars they become fat
Very true. My daughter is only 16 months old and already she gives her toys to her younger cousin when he comes over to play. And if she does something wrong I don't yell at her and say how naughty she is I stay calm and tell her what she is doing is not nice.
Living it now! But they are still my children no matter what!
Jenny A
+Jolinda Kerr It's "lose" not "loose". I went to Japan for the last 4 years and told my mom it's her problem not mine if she can't deal with it. Unfortunately, I found the people there to be exactly like my mom. Always overhelping me when it wasn't needed, and nowhere to be found when I did need help. is a master piece of goosebump.verY raw, true and cut deep.bY Dr.Dorothy Law Nolte
If they...
You have a lot if expectations for children. If you expect a lot, they may not care a lot.
If children live with cartoons, they became cartoon. True?
true words ! and I can see "superwomen" enjoying ice-creams !!!!!
Like a comedian said, kids are like little alcoholics.
Children are angels they just give smile on everyone face without having any relation
I remember reading this in one of my teachers classrooms, right after she had embarrassed a poor student. I promised myself never to do that in my classroom.
So often is it that most of us have had to live those first 7 lines of this post, and later only to struggle to achieve the remainder of these phrases. Teaching parents how to parent sounds like a good start on building a new tomorrow for/ with our children.
If they are told they are special, they think they're better than everyone else. That's the problem these days.

Inspiring. But what happened to me?
my daughter loves all things super hero.. she was batgirl for halloween, now its all about the avengers and the most important on her list is spiderman. 3rd bday is coming and guess what it is going to be..... half hello kitty half spiderman..... gotta love it!
I LOVE this! Thanks for sharing.
What happens if they live with tedious lists
Easier said as : Monkey see, Monkey do.
well children should be loved and cared for because they are the leaders of tomorrow
These children are apparently learning about childhood obesity
What if there is another way to deal with children that simultaneously promotes responsibility, compassion, and respect?

IMHO if parents embraced this way of interacting, it would be the beginning of something wonderful. Why? As parents (people) our tools typically don't include ways to deal with children without coercion. Even guessing at the needs underlying childrens' emotions is a rare thing. Watch how this woman deals with "no!"

CUTE and agree but it don't change because if they are shy and then they grow up they can still be shy of their family
I raised my three sons by this! Thank you for posting this for all to see and learn! Children r our future!
The kids are raising the parents in this generation.
and if children live with fast food..............

Little super girls. I hope they all have the bottom half of this post not the top half.
Many many Super women are there :)

+Lisa Murphy

Er.........yeah.....alright then......quickly makes sure front door is locked and passes Lisa's details to a shrink

+Herb Stamper

And those kids brought up in a republican/conservative household learn to trample over anyone whilst they try to get what they want.

+Alex Burton, you're seeing it in your stream because you haven't opted to filter out the Explore list.  On the left side of G+, click the "Explore" compass.  At the top of the entire list of posts, find the slider bar next to the gear icon, and drag the marker all the way to the left.  Stuff from Explore will no longer show up in your stream.  Enjoy!
The first one shouldn't be something that is seen as negative because surely when a child does something wrong they must be criticised for it and taught what is right, rather than turning a blind eye. Likewise, we also need to condemn things which are evil in this world, for example injustice..
All what was said is true, but children grows up in this world living differently. To live like what the doctor said is to live as God or goddess.
building the future starts by building children with great values...
Fear is not valuable is it?
Actually, all those feelings are needed in proper measure. Living without criticism, ridicule or shame is just as bad, if not worse.
I hope they remember they are super and capable of only the best!
is it my eyesight or do i see a lot of supermen today...albeit four little ones and one big one...p.s...this is not a critical comment...anyway...the posting speaks volumes and should be a lesson to us all...!!!...
Definitely something to remember when you have kids! I feel the trick it's to teach them just enough of each one, but not to much of any single one! Thank you +Ana Calderon for the post.
Yes true....i Agree with that..We are using that here in our place to educate children..
when they learn bieng vigilant they leave with peace
Ana I agree with you 100% keep up your education of people...
A child is a blank piece of paper.
If people would live by some of these phrases, we would all have a better chance of having obedient kids. We only get on opportunity to do it right.
There is no such thing as an obedient kid. There are only disciplined kids. The obedience doesn't kick in until they're older. Discipline works.
Im the oldest of five sisters. One thing i learned early in life is that children are people too. My first job in life was babysitting my sisters. The main job I hoped for in my life was to be a good wife and a good mother. I knew that there would be other jobs in my future but my family had to be #1. my first priority, my pride and joy. Now I'm a granny and a great granny and still I still love making sure all of my children, grandchildren and great grandson are safe, well cared for, happy, and loved.
very very good, every one shoud compliments to Dorothy Law  Nolte.  pl. write many like this
