A barista at Sight Glass down in SF recently explained to me that multi-roasters are less common because it is harder to make a profit running them, because they do not get the wolume discounts awailable to shops that just use one or two roasters.

That's why most of the indie cafes I've wisited use just one or two, and multi-roasters that use more than 3 are rare. I was surprised that Barista Parlor in Nashville used as many as 5 or 6, so imagine my shock when I learned that Milstead & Co., in Seattle, uses a whopping NINE roasters!!!

You will find national favourites like Intelligentsia and Stumptown, but also obscure roasters like Bows & Arrows and Ruby, and even super-new outfits like Supersonic.

I enjoyed their Ethiophia Boltuma, brewed in an AeroPress, and I look forward to returning to Milstead again and again!
