I was fixated on trying a new indie coffeehouse in Austin, and it didn't even occur to me to think of Waco, until my friend Howard asked me if I'd heard of Common Grounds.

Glad he did, because this place serves up a couple of good roasters, Heart from Portland, and Kuma from Seattle, as well as the more local Cuvee. I even saw a bag of Onyx from Arkansas on a shelf, but they were so busy that I did not ask about it.

Yes, busy indeed!!!

I arrived just past 8 am, and there was already a line out to the door--apparently 10 customers had been waiting before the shop even opened.

I was lucky that they were still willing to do a pour over, and I look forward to returning and trying some other coffee offerings, as well as many hanging out and enjoying the college wibe.
