Six weeks into my San Diego job, I venture into the "barrio" (as another customer put it) to explore Ryan Bros. coffee, a coffeehouse I just heard about, that serves pour-over coffee.

- My expectations low, and appropriately so. They were partly clouded by the comments of another shop--the owner there described is as being coffee heavily marketed towards hotels. I figured that couldn't be good, and I was right. The menu itself proudly boasts of which hotels they serve to, and all I saw were blends, not single-origin.
And when I finally tasted it--meh. I might as well have gone to Starbucks.Jul 17, 2012
