Hey G+ followers! As you might have heard, we’ll be launching   #MakerCamp    right here in one week. I’m +Nick Raymond   your Camp Director, and to give you an idea of what’s coming, I’ve put together a few fun projects we can build this week, to get everyone ready for camp!

Today, I'm going to show you two projects that use duct tape to make awesome crafts that you can use every day. I don't know about you, but whenever I want to give someone flowers for a special occasion, they seem to wilt right away. Big bummer! Next time, give that special someone duct tape roses and never deal with dead flowers again. Follow along with the instructions in the photo album below and you'll have a bundle or roses in no time.

Materials for Realistic Duct Tape Rose:
-Red duct tape
-Green duct tape
-Red maker (optional)
-Green marker (optional)

The second project is a utilitarian duct tape wallet that you can make yourself. All you need is a roll of your favorite colored duct tape and you can make a wallet within a few minutes. The instructions are located just after the steps for the Duct Tape Rose, so click through the photo album to see each step. This is a quick project, which means you can make multiple wallets for you and your friends, and try new styles, sizes, and colors. Our Junior Camp Counselor +Ibby Ghirann   used two contrasting colors to add accents for the pockets, but don't stop there! As always, be sure to share your creations with us. Take pictures and use the #MakerCamp  hashtag so we can find them.

Materials for Duct Tape Wallet:
-Roll of duct tape

Fun Facts:
1. Duct tape was used to repair the lunar rover (great shot from the moon):

2. Duct tape saved the life of the Apollo 13 astronauts, by allowing them to build a CO2 filter (one of the most extreme examples of DIY-ness):

3. Wikipedia says duct tape shouldn't actually be used for ducts. It's named after the duck cloth it was made from during WW2.
