Overpriced, under cooked burgers and a rude waiter. We were going to a play at Portland Center Stage and met up with two other couples for a quick dinner here because it was across the street. The waiter was unfriendly and aloof. I asked him if my son and I could have separate checks and he said yes, then promptly forgot and put us all on the same check with 19% added gratuity (because we were 6). I guess we could have dealt with the waiter's attitude if the food was good. I had a coconut bay shrimp salad that sounded so unique and appealing on the menu. Blah! Fishy tasting and looked like a scoop of chopped baby food on the plate. Anyone in our party who ordered a burger less than well done got rare. Order M = rare. It was too busy, it took forever to arrive, and we were on a schedule so we couldn't send back. On the upside, the beer and wine were good. I spent $50 for two people to have a decent beer and glass of pinot served to us by a haughty waiter.

The Black Butte Porter is seriously the best porter I've ever had, and where else could you get an elk burger? (The elk burger was also excellent though I of course have nothing to compare it to.) a bit expensive but with good reason. Plus our server was adorable.

Every time we are there the food is perfect, never an off day. Great servers, who always take the best care of the table. Jill Ramseier is the Executive Chef, she made time to stop by our table and talk with our family on Valentines Day. You know the food is good when your 5yr old takes a bite of crab and tells you "That's amazing!"

My buddies and I were just here over the weekend and had an amazing experience at Deschutes. Firstly the beer and food were amazing. However what made our experience extra special was our waitress Kaeli. She spent extra time with us and went above and beyond. When we first sat down she spent a good 10 mins going over the beer selection and recommended us a few tasty brews. She also brought us samples of others to try. When we had a concern about one of our orders she went above her duty to bring us a taste of the sauce to make sure it would be what we were expecting. We were already blown away by her service at this point. Then to top everything off she brought us a complimentary 6 pack of beers for the road!!!!! I have never received this kind of service anywhere. Thank you for the great service Kaeli, keep up the great work!!!!

Friends and I came by to try their beer flight on our own food tour of Portland. You get to try 6 types of beer between 2 scripts, but it equals to about a pint and a half in total. We weren't a fan of their IPA, but then again we just don't like IPA in general so I can't fault them for that. Two that stood out to me were their Nitorious O.A.T which was as smooth as they can get and their Scarborough Amber. Of course we snacked on their curry fries and cheese plate while we tried their flights. While the curry fries smelled wonderfully (chalk that up to the turmeric) but the fries themselves were mostly soggy and their greek yogurt + olive oil mixture didn't really do anything to make it better. Perhaps a mustard based sauce would've been better. Their cheese plate was wonderful though. With great tasting pickled veggies, three types of cheddar (my favorite being the smoked goat cheddar), and an assortment of nuts and dried fruit. Oh and there were some kind of flat cracker, that one of us liked but the rest thought nothing of it. Well there you go! Great place to spend an afternoon just drinking, snacking, and having fun with friends.

Thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience here. Service was prompt and friendly. I had the bison burger, done to perfection and well suited with the garden salad. There's plenty of different locally crafted beer to choose from, although IPA's are rather trendy right now. The Double D did not disappoint; a very unique selection.

I came all the way from Phoenix, AZ for Deschutes, and it was everything I hoped for. The food was extremely delicious, with lots of creative culinary items using fresh ingredients and some with deschutes beer! The beer obviously was outstanding, and the sampler is a great value, I love that you can pick your own samples to try from their list! Update: May 2015, just as good as ever!!!!

What can I say, they had over 15 beers on tap and every one of them was tasty. Great food, the pretzel with pesto jalapeno sauce was amazing. They are getting bigger but there beers are growing with them!
