I haven't seen Tracey in so long it's ridiculous, you loose touch with family so easily as you get older and you all have your own family to take care of. We were talking and how bad is it that her hubby met all of us for the first time at a funeral. I decided that getting together for a new baby is way better and thought bugger this we're having a cousins get together, why not? It's a good way for all of us to keep in touch and get to know each other again.
Anyway here is one of the shots I got of the gorgeous Kalani, she was the best baby to shoot. She didn't really stir at all and I was finally able to get a baby in this pose. I am so excited, this pose is quite difficult to get as babies don't always want to be put into some poses and recently ever bub that I tried just didn't want a bar of it so we did other things instead. You ALWAYS have to listen to what the baby does and doesn't like, and I can tell you they will certainly let you know if they don't like it.
Anyways what do you think? I think this shot looks great and Kalani is just adorable?
While we were there we saw this Kookaburra which we thought was still a baby as it was still quite little. I’m not really into animals a lot but he was really cute and I wanted to have a go at photographing a bird so I gave it a go. I feel that this shot came out pretty good but I can’t decide if I like the coloured version better or black & white.
What do you think?
I tell you what she made me work hard to get the photos of her but it was so worth it. The poor little thing just didn’t like me touching her, every time I did anything to her she stirred and then cried. I like to think that I’m usually pretty darn good with babies, they fall asleep great for me, I absolutely adore shooting them, and I just love being around them, but this day she just didn’t want a bar of me. I felt like such a meanie. Anyway we ended up with some great photos so I am definately not complaining.
Thanks so much to her lovely Mum for being so patient. Hope you guys like the photo. What do you think the portrait or landscape photo?
This is a spot where we love to go camping. The camp ground is on a river and it has a section that we call the rapids. They’re aren’t really big rapids or anything like that but the kids think it’s fun to go down “The Rapids.” It depends on whether there is a lot of water or not as to what photo’s you can get there, if the water is flowing heaps and the water level is high you get shots like this one, if the water is low you can get lot’s of little waterfall type shots.
It’s really cool to have the variety and you don’t know what your going to get until you get there. It’s a surprise every time.
I love this photo, I think it looks like a really cool one eyed face.
I can’t decide between the crops of this photo so I thought I’d post the original shot and then a crop from the top to get rid of the trees and also one that has still kept the aspect ration but it means that it comes in pretty tight on the sides of the waterfall.
Let me know what you think looks best, I can’t decide. I’m thinking the crop from the top so I keep the whole waterfall but I’m not sure if it looks too wide.

My passion has always been people, I love being around them, talking and learning from everyone, especially babies and children. I suppose that's why I became a hairdresser, then makeup artist, which led to my interest in photography.
Photography is something that I had always dabbled in, but I became really serious after being around photographers whilst doing hair and makeup for photography shoots.
I never dreamt that it would become my job and now here I am. How lucky can you be doing something you love and calling it your job?
I must say as much as I love people and doing the children's and family portraits I do have an extra soft spot for the newborns, hence why I specialize in newborn baby photography.
There's nothing better than the smell of a new baby. Their little hands and feet and how they cuddle into you so much, how can you not just love it?
