My cousin Tracey and her hubby Shane had the most gorgeous baby girl named Kalani and I am so lucky that I was able to do some newborn photos of her.

I haven't seen Tracey in so long it's ridiculous, you loose touch with family so easily as you get older and you all have your own family to take care of. We were talking and how bad is it that her hubby met all of us for the first time at a funeral. I decided that getting together for a new baby is way better and thought bugger this we're having a cousins get together, why not? It's a good way for all of us to keep in touch and get to know each other again.

Anyway here is one of the shots I got of the gorgeous Kalani, she was the best baby to shoot. She didn't really stir at all and I was finally able to get a baby in this pose. I am so excited, this pose is quite difficult to get as babies don't always want to be put into some poses and recently ever bub that I tried just didn't want a bar of it so we did other things instead. You ALWAYS have to listen to what the baby does and doesn't like, and I can tell you they will certainly let you know if they don't like it.

Anyways what do you think? I think this shot looks great and Kalani is just adorable?

I had a go at this shot because even though it is still a broad landscape I suppose, it’s only really the sky which I haven’t done before. I would usually include the jetty or something else in the foreground. I knew it was going to be an awesome sunset and so I thought I’m just going to do the sky and that’s it. I think it came up pretty awesome myself. I haven’t really done much editing with this as the colours were just so cool already I didn’t really feel the need to do an awful lot.

We went away at Easter to Dwellingup, which for those of you who don’t know is a little town about an hour and a half down south from Perth. There is a great camping ground there and we just love it. It’s great for the adults as well as the kids, we just have a blast.

While we were there we saw this Kookaburra which we thought was still a baby as it was still quite little. I’m not really into animals a lot but he was really cute and I wanted to have a go at photographing a bird so I gave it a go. I feel that this shot came out pretty good but I can’t decide if I like the coloured version better or black & white.

What do you think?

I don't really do macro photography and I'm not a real flowery kind of person but I like to have a go at different things, I'm always up for a challenge and I love meeting new people and getting fresh ideas and inspiration. Anyway I had a go at some flowers and here's one of the shots I took of a neighbours frangipani. I actually really like frangipani's which is one of the few flowers that I do really like.

This is the very cute Hayley. She was about a week old when I took her photos.

I tell you what she made me work hard to get the photos of her but it was so worth it. The poor little thing just didn’t like me touching her, every  time I did anything to her she stirred and then cried. I like to think that I’m usually pretty darn good with babies, they fall asleep great for me, I absolutely adore shooting them, and I just love being around them, but this day she just didn’t want a bar of me. I felt like such a meanie. Anyway we ended up with some great photos so I am definately not complaining.

Thanks so much to her lovely Mum for being so patient. Hope you guys like the photo. What do you think the portrait or landscape photo?

Here is another flower that I had a go at. I am so hopeless with flowers that I don't even know what type of flower this is. If anyone knows please do tell.

This photo was taken down in Dwellingup as well.

This is a spot where we love to go camping. The camp ground is on a river and it has a section that we call the rapids. They’re aren’t really big rapids or anything like that but the kids think it’s fun to go down “The Rapids.” It depends on whether there is a lot of water or not as to what photo’s you can get there, if the water is flowing heaps and the water level is high you get shots like this one, if the water is low you can get lot’s of little waterfall type shots.

It’s really cool to have the variety and you don’t know what your going to get until you get there. It’s a surprise every time.

There are so many cool looking Pinnacles. You have ones that just look like big rocks, some like dinosaurs and some like my funny face Pinnacle. It's so much fun looking at all of the different shapes, sizes, faces and all sorts, you can just keep shooting and shooting and you just don't get bored.

I love this photo, I think it looks like a really cool one eyed face.

These photos were taken at Fortescue Falls in Karijini National Park. We camped near here and so we went down everyday to the falls as well as to another area not far away which is called Fern Pool. These are all in Dales Gorge, which so far is my favourite gorge at Karijini, although I did miss one so next time we’ll see if it stays my favourite.

I can’t decide between the crops of this photo so I thought I’d post the original shot and then a crop from the top to get rid of the trees and also one that has still kept the aspect ration but it means that it comes in pretty tight on the sides of the waterfall.

Let me know what you think looks best, I can’t decide. I’m thinking the crop from the top so I keep the whole waterfall but I’m not sure if it looks too wide.

I like your widest shot with trees at top, better overall impression and continuity.

I'm all of the above.
Introduction

My passion has always been people, I love being around them, talking and learning from everyone, especially babies and children. I suppose that's why I became a hairdresser, then makeup artist, which led to my interest in photography.

Photography is something that I had always dabbled in, but I became really serious after being around photographers whilst doing hair and makeup for photography shoots.

I never dreamt that it would become my job and now here I am. How lucky can you be doing something you love and calling it your job?

I must say as much as I love people and doing the children's and family portraits I do have an extra soft spot for the newborns, hence why I specialize in newborn baby photography.

There's nothing better than the smell of a new baby. Their little hands and feet and how they cuddle into you so much, how can you not just love it?

Bragging rights
I can reverse a car with a trailer up a really long driveway, pretty hard for a girl, so I'm told.
