Mike Dean tears it up at the Minimoog Model D assembly factory where engineers hand build analog synthesizers.

Analog, baby.

Dean WROTE and RECORDED “Three Jewels” ON the build line while production engineers crafted the final Model D synthesizers beside him. With the track completed, Dean walked out of the Moog factory with its employees at the end of their shift.

Michael Yu contacted me about a new film project inspired by O'Connor's story "A Good Man is Hard to Find" and filled me in on the film's premise, which you can hear it from Michael himself at the Indiegogo campaign site. I'm excited about the crew and cast involved in the project and would love to see it take off. One of Michael's goals is to promote O'Connor's work in mainstream culture. If you think it sounds like something you'd like to see, consider backing the A Good Man is Hard to Be project as well.

This swank Japanese transistorized computer includes both a paper tape and a magnetic tape reader/writer. Want more? It processes both Japanese kana and the English alphabet, an absolute necessity when doing business in the sprawl.

The Adam West era Batcave

Transistorpunk doesn't require ubiquitous labels, but they can't hurt. As silly as the TV show is, it captures the dream of where transistor-based technology could go, including a mobile link between the Batmobile and the Batcomputer, advanced forensics rivaling CSI, and personal nuclear power.

Yes, that's a nuclear pile there in the back.

IBM System 360

Custom circuits of glass encapsulated transistors and diodes with silk screened resistors enrobed in plastic and mounted on printed circuit boards that plug into the computer's back plane.

Talk about modularity.

Check out that luscious tractor feed dot matrix printer.

Yeah, I'm stuck on Moog synths, but it's just awesome to see what people can do with them. Mike Dean spent 48 hours in Moog labs and came up with this track that could be the background for an anime motorcycle joust in Neo-Tokyo.

The "Flannery's Porch" series is off and running. (See below for the initial announcement.) The group is using IndieGoGo so people can support the program through donations for season 2.

(I am not affiliated with "Flannery's Porch" but want to let group members know about any interesting O'Connor material out there.)
