"Does my car need a coolant flush?"
#coolantflush   #antifreeze   #radiator   #maintenance

To ensure the longevity of your cooling system and trouble-free engine performance, regular preventative maintenance steps are recommended. Over time, the chemical properties that lend themselves to the cooling, anti-corrosive, and anti-cavitation aspects in coolant break down, diminishing the effectiveness. This leaves your cooling system and engine vulnerable to rusting and corrosion of components, overheating, or freezing and cracking in the colder months.
To ensure that your cooling system is protected, regular coolant services or coolant flushes are recommended. This service is best performed by certified technicians who will drain the existing coolant in the system, flush the radiator with a special machine that forces a pressurized chemical flush to clean corrosion and build-up, and refill the system with the proper type of coolant at the proper ratios, bleeding the system of air whenever necessary. Technicians will also inspect your coolant system components for leaks or other potential issues for early detection.
Coolant services should be done every 30,000 miles or every two years, whichever comes first. Extreme weather states (hot or cold), or severe service vehicles (off-road, dusty, towing, extended idling, etc) may warrant them sooner.
Call T&D Automotive to schedule your next coolant flush.

Q:"What is a wheel hub bearing and why is it so important?"
#wheelhubbearing   #carparts   #safetyfirst

A: Though you may never even see it, a wheel hub bearing unit is an important part of your car's wheel assembly, enabling your wheels to turn freely and playing a crucial role in the safety and handling characteristics of your vehicle. Comprised of precision- manufactured bearings, seals and sensors in one pre-assembled unit, a wheel hub bearing unit is critical to your car's performance, from the smoothness of the ride, to fuel efficiency, to the integrity of your anti-lock breaking system (ABS). So when it's time to replace one, you'll want a replacement hub bearing that's as good - and safe - as the original that came with your car when it was new.

Q:How do my car's hub bearing affect braking safety?

A: Your car's hub bearings include the wheel speed sensor that controls your anti-lock braking system (ABS). This sensor sends a constant signal to the ABS control system, telling it how fast each wheel is turning. In an emergency situation, the ABS control system will determine if anti-lock braking is required. If the ABS sensor doesn't work properly or fails, the ABS system fails, so the quality of this sensor (how it is made and protected from damage) is critical to braking safety.

Q: Why are hub bearings critical to my traction control system?

A:Your car's traction control system (TCS) uses a combination of electronic drivetrain controls in conjunction with the ABS system. Since it uses the same wheel speed sensors and components as the ABS system, it can be considered a subsystem and extension of that system. Together, ABS and TCS work to provide the driver with full control over the vehicle under potentially dangerous road conditions.

"replacing shocks and/or struts"
#stayincontrol   #shocks   #struts   #stability   #steering   #stopping   #suspension

A fresh set of shocks and struts can enhance more than just your ride. They help improve braking and handling under certain driving conditions and they make vehicles safer and easier to control. This helps make the road safer for everyone.

After the initial 50,000 miles/ 80,000 kilometers inspection, it is a good idea to ask your automotive service provider to perform the safety triangle inspection annually, or every 12,000 miles/ 19,200 kilometers.

Symptoms of worn shocks and struts:
- Poor steering response, stiffness or noise when steering.
- Fluid leaks from shock or strut body.
- Dented or damaged shock or strut bodies.
- Broken, damaged, corroded or worn mounts or bushings.
- Excessive "nose dive" or instability when braking.
- Vehicle sways or leans on turns or when changing lanes.
- Cupped, uneven tire wear.
- Excessive vehicle bounce after hitting a road bump.
- Harsh, bumpy or shaky vehicle ride.

*If you see or experience any of these symptoms, bring your vehicle in to T & D Automotive.
