Candor Cycle Day April 2nd 2017

With the Sun slowly rising and the heat piercing through, the first Cycle Day at Electronic City began with a bang! April 2nd being World Autism Day was the perfect day to begin the tenure of Cycle Day at Electronic City. Cheerful parents, curious grandparents and the eager children of electronic city thronged the 4th cross street on this special Sunday. It was hearting to see all the people come together not just for cycling but to also spread awareness about Autism. I Support Foundation, ELCITA along with Candor International School and the DULT hosted this wonderful event. Residents from around neighborhood were on streets and enjoying all the activities that were lined up. The event began with Mr Satish DV and Ms Pragya spreading energy via Zumba. Then, Vaishnavi a 11 year old showcased her hoola-hooping talents. This was followed by a skit by team Atma. Their mime enlightened the crowd that Autistic people should be accepted well into the society and that they are just differently abled than us. After this, the cycle ride was flagged off by Mr Naresh Reddy and Mr Samik Ghosh, the Director of Operations and Principal of Candor International School. Next, toddlers, adults and grandparent alike, were playing traditional games like Adu Huli Aaata, Chowka Bara, Alugulimane and Pagade. Not to leave out a few favorites, Chess, Snakes & Ladders, Hop Scotch etc, too, were loved by one and all. To bust stress, there was a session of Yoga too conducted by Dr Sudhindra from Healclinic, where residents relaxed their muscles and laughed a lot for health! This time, the yoga session was extra special as Mr Sanjay, who is autistic himself, conducted the last few minutes of the session. The Humanitarian Clown joined the cycle day event to entertain the children and showcase their magic skills. Electronic City is new to Cycle Day, but we are sure it’s going to continue throughout. “This is an excellent event not just for my grandkids but for me too” a 78 year old grandma. “The best part about the Candor Cycle Day is the laughter therapy,” said Jayesh, a resident of HSR but present at Electronic City too. “An awesome Platform for kids like mine who are special, they are accepted beautifully here, we are happy to be a part and thank I support Foundation and Candor School for their support.” Said a mother of an Autistic Child. Over 175 people turned up for this event. It was a community that came together for a cause – Cycling for health and environment! Cycle Day was started in 2013 as an initiative to promote non-motorized transport by the Department of Urban Land Transport in collaboration with local partners, including The Hindu.

The Candor International School celebrated the National Sports Day on August 28, 2015. An impressive picture of Maj. Dhyanchand, the legendary Hockey star, adorned the ground. This was the beginning of a series of sporting activities that the School will have over a period of time. The students and teachers enjoyed an exciting football match between a team playing in white consisting of the students of Grade 11 and 12 and another team playing in black consisting of students of Grade 9 and 10. The spectators enjoyed an exciting match and display of skills. The long distance free kicks by Jay of Grade 10 and Salman of Grade 12 will be remembered for a long time. The black shirts won the match 2-0.

Candor awoke to the cawing of ‘crows’ and ‘hissing’ of snakes on August 27, 2015 through a wonderful story telling session by Mr. Craig Jenkins; a young, dynamic and professional story teller from the United Kingdom. Seated on the floor in the auditorium, students of Grade 1 to Grade 12 were absorbed in a spellbinding session of story telling. It was a pleasure to witness Mr. Jenkins deliver simple stories and folktales involving creatures like the ‘crow’, and the 'snake' with so much ease by just being himself. His humour and personal dance rendition brought his stories to life. All in all, it was an engaging, enthralling and enticing session to be cherished and remembered for a long time.

3D printing technology

Candor International School strongly believes in ensuring that the students are up to date with their knowledge of technology. There was a talk and demonstration of 3D printing technology. The students and teachers were highly interested. The school Information technology department has taken up a project to familiarize the students with the method of how a 3D printer works and the logical steps involved. The school plans to acquire a 3D printer once the students make some meaningful projects on the computer.
