This is an essay I started writing shortly after 9/11, a time when I was in shock -- and as preoccupied with suddenly being branded as "the enemy" as I was with the massive tragedy that had transpired just 90 minutes away in New York City. I think I wrote this with the idea that it might be ...

I see a lot of negative comments dismissing the efficacy of this or snidely pointing out that "now abusers can direct their victims to look elsewhere", but I have nothing but praise and gratitude for the creativity and compassion behind this concept.

A revolutionary anti-abuse ad with a hidden message only children can see.

So no one has created a successor to Sepia Mutiny yet? Because I've got a doozy of an email/issue that deserves immediate, public attention from our community. (And that's only the latest eye-popping "tip" to be sent my way. People've contacted me for months, I don't know what they expect me to do.) :\

A beautiful gift of a column from Christmas day. We are so much more than our bodies. At 28-29, I had 18% body fat from playing indoor soccer four times a week and working out six days a week. At 36, with a cane in one hand and side-effect-laden medications in the other, I was 40 pounds heavier. At first, it was difficult to hear, "You used to be so pretty! It's a shame you've put on all this weight." Then I realized how lucky I was to hear that comment in my 30s vs my 20s. Because now, I don't care. I'm just happy to be able to walk, kneel, and climb again. You can indulge in denial and deprivation or compassion and gratitude. I choose the latter.

Introduction
Hi, I'm Anna, and I wasted five minutes of my life typing in boxes on Google+, which is certainly better than Orkut, but not as much of a draw as Twitter. That's where you're more likely to find me: @suitablegirl.

Bragging rights? As if any of you care that I won a pageant, have a perfectly-behaved puppy (that we rescued), am the product of a feminist, yet Orthodox South Indian household and date a hotter version of Saif Ali Khan. Pish posh.
