Where to begin? We live in Magnolia and the eatery looked comfortable and inviting, but that is about it. My wife's dinner salad had large amounts of salt sprinkled on it. Not a little - a LOT. It was terrible. I ordered the osso buco special, only to find out 20 minutes after placing the order, that it was out (at 6 pm?). My wife's fettuccine with house-made italian sausage was absolutely awful. The pasta was tough, heavy, and under-cooked. The marinara tasted like it was from Spaghettios . The advertised fresh basil was missing and we had to ask for it. And last but not least, the so-called sausage was dry, tasteless, TVP-like, and felt like it had been cooked for 3 days. I had the gnocchi gorgonzola with walnuts, which was just so-so. With wine, this terrible meal was about $100. The only person that I felt more sorry for was the waiter who had no explanation or defense for any of this.

Second time I've been, and it was equally divine each time. A lovely family-owned atmosphere, with decor that makes you regret looking out the window to see that you aren't in Italy. The staff is friendly, unobtrusive but helpful, and all beautiful in word and face. One of the most pleasant dining environments that I've gotten to enjoy. That said, you're probably wondering more about the food. I made the delicious decision to order carbonara my first trip, and the gnocchi in gorgonzola sauce the second. I also got to try my company's dish of mushroom ravioli. Hands down, the most delicious Italian food I have ever experienced. If you enjoy perfection as I do, you simply must go. Everything is made from scratch when ordered, and the freshness shows. I couldn't quite say if the pasta is as fresh, but it's certainly not left me wanting. I assume that it's made daily like the bread.

We were here Friday night and a wonderful time. The pasta was probably the best I have ever had (I had the lasagna). I don't live near Magnolia, but hope the make the trip to your part of town again soon.

Barbara, we're thrilled you enjoyed the pasta so much! To hear it was the best lasagna you've ever had means more to us than you know, and we hope we'll get to see you soon despite the drive! -Mondello Ristorante Italiano Family

Came here with a friend from out of town today and we had a great lunch! I ordered the Fettuccine Con Polpette. Really authentic food (pasta is handmade very well). I will definitely be coming back. And the price is low for the high quality.

Funky little Italian place with very salty food. We each ordered a different item and it was all really salty, like someone accidentally poured salt on the food salty.

Charming staff, authentic Italian cuisine, and a romantic ambiance with a pianist that performs most nights. Definitely worth the price! I had such a great time talking with the owner's mother Ensa who is from Calabria and who also works there. I've even met the grandma, Maria, who sits at the bar most nights enjoying the music. They're so sweet! If you're in Magnolia village and you want to have a romantic night out Mondello is a no brainer.
