Easter Baskets, Easter Candy and Diabetes, oh my!
While today has been a wonderful day with family, I can't help but go back to the days when Caitie was younger and I dreaded Easter Sunday like a final exam.  Caitie is older now, but nothing has changed for her (YET), and, there are plenty of children and parents who are going through this right now...when you have a child with Type 1 Diabetes, Easter can be a formidable monster.  Peeps, chocolate bunnies, brunches and Easter baskets full of foiled candy can bring a parent of a child with diabetes to their knees.

We MUST monitor, count, calculate and administer insulin in just the right dose to make sure that their little bodies use the injected insulin to turn that sugar into energy for our kiddos.  If we don't calculate right, or know how much has been eaten to dose for, we make a critical error that can literally end a life.

I realize this seems extreme, but, for thousands of children and parents of children with Diabetes, this is true.  We are working a Tough Mudder course each and every day with diabetes, and we need your help.   I need your help--to make the statement with my participation, that diabetes might be tough, but these kids, these parents, are tougher.  Please consider a donation today.

Thanks so much to all of you, and I hope you have had a wonderful day!!

Well, I have pulled the trigger on this!  In honor of Caitie and all the ups, downs, fight and spirit she possesses every day with T1D, I am going to train, try and hopefully raise a lot of voice to the fight for the Cure and everything we need until then!  Please consider a supporting donation in honor of Caitie or someone you love who needs us to keep up the good fight!
