I'm a very easy-going, happy person and it takes a lot for me to be motivated to write a negative review, even if I've had a bad experience; however, the service at The Standard Grill was SO BAD that I just felt compelled to let others know! Don't get me wrong... the food is pretty good and the overall vibe of this place is wonderful. However, the service was the worst I have ever seen and made the entire experience sour. We had a 9 AM breakfast reservation, at which time it wasn't very busy. It took over 45 minutes for our tea and coffees to come once we had ordered and over an hour for our food. The worst part was that when we asked for an update and to see if our food/drink was on its way, the waiter was rude, sarcastic and unapologetic. He had a serious attitude and made us all feel like we were inconveniencing him. It's unfortunate because this place has the potential to really be fantastic - the food and ambience are top notch; however, the need to invest in training their staff on customer service!!! PS - I also have several severe food allergies (I carry an epipen) and they were not taken seriously. The waiter laughed and did not seem to care.

If you're lucky to get a seat for brunch, you're lucky! :) The brunch menu is very simple but executed perfectly. The price is also not crazy and the location of the restaurant is incredible. Perfect for a before/after walk on the highline. Note: the mimosas are good.

Fantastic food with fantastic service. The servers are very friendly and knowledgeable and although there could be a little wait for your food, it's well worth it!

A very trendy restaurant in a very trendy part of town, this sprawling restaurant has a french bistro vibe. The food is pretty spectacular and the people watching isn't too far behind. The only negative I can really say about this place, is that they are a little into themselves. Rather than answering a question about how the wine tasted, the waiter spent two minutes telling us about the wine's organic origins, how they serve it from the tap meaning that no oxygen touches the wine and so on. To be honest, I lost track after a while. In spite of that, I really cannot say enough about how good the food was and how much I enjoyed the meal otherwise.

Service terrible. Not crowded at 9pm tuesday night. Took five requests for butter before that arrived. We were a table of four - a twosome and a group of three arrived 15 minutes after us and had finished their main course 10 minutes before ours arrived. Similar meals. When meals did arrive, and not brought by the waitress, the side dishes were all cold. The other couple had also arrived earlier for a drink, and commented they were the only ones at the bar, but the bartenders saw them , ignored them and starting chatting to each other. I've been to this place and always enjoyed the people -watching, and typically have found the bartenders to be fine and responsive. So hopefully the full moon was responsible for most of this.

We loved the hotel, great crowd, the bier garten and glu wein were a hit with us on a cold winter's day. The layout and design of the hotel is great in and of itself, definitely somewhere we will aim to stay next time. We ate at the bar, super attentive and great bartenders! General service was excellent! Food was nothing special, octopus was slightly overdone for me, the oysters were only okay. Will definitely go back for drinks and the great ambience! And next time the rooftop bar. My boyfriend couldn't get in to the rooftop bar as he was wearing trainers, so shoes are quite the priority up there! Loved the elevator ride and the trippy screensavers!

After not being able to find the bar with the vaunted view, some friends, my wife, and I ended up at the Standard Grill for Saturday brunch. We started with some of the specialty cocktails including the sunrise and the bloody mary and enjoyed both. I opted for steak and eggs, our friend for the strip steak, and the girls for the turkey club. Unfortunately, when the food arrived, after a long wait, it was a disaster. The fries were all ice cold and both steaks were incredibly dried out and overcooked. When we informed the waitress, she was very apologetic and immediately sent it back and we got new steaks and fries. This time they were excellent. Nice and moist and cooked correctly. The service in general was good, if not over attentive. Bonus points for taking care of the mistakes so quickly but I don't know why it took so long in the first place. Food as mentioned, was very good and made for an excellent introduction to NY brunch for our friends. The atmosphere was also very good and somehow a good mix of pastoral and art deco style.
