Good morning!!

First observation early this morning is about that Pope guy. It dawned me that his resigning for the reasons he stated is actually a pretty modern move especially coming from someone as conservative as he is. I actually respect him for resigning at 85 from his position and think it's a wise (enlightened?) move. Maybe the time of Pope to the death will finally come to an end. I know many believe the reasons behind his resignation are sinister in nature but I keep thinking of my 84 year old grandmother and I can't imagine someone at that age dealing well with the increasing pressures of Popehood.  I know the whole argument has been, "But God chose him and is supposedly infallible." Maybe God also chose him to be the one to be brave enough to resign? I have major issues with the Catholic church, their archaic principals, and their atrocious mishandling of sex abuse. So I welcome this movement as a breath of fresh air in more ways than one.

What do you think about it? Is something sinister driving it? Is it a good thing? Is it a bad thing? Is it inconsequential and not something you really care to have an opinion on?

Full disclaimer: I was raised Catholic but abandoned the faith in high school and never looked back. I'm pretty much agnostic these days, not really sure if there is some sort of god(s) or not.
