From Tahoe Weather Geek. 2% of normal precipitation in Feb! I think March has already had a couple of feet. #letitsnowletitsnowletitsnow

MONTHLY WEATHER ALMANAC FOR FEBRUARY

Recapping last month's final numbers, they weren't pretty. Tahoe saw only a trace of precipitation during the month, and just a dusting of snow. Average temperatures were right around normal.

TRUCKEE
High: 52, on  Feb. 4, 15, 28
Low: 7, on Feb. 9
Average temp: 28
Departure from norm: -2.1
Precipitation: .07
Normal precip for the entire month: 4.98
Percent of normal for the month: 2 percent
Total snowfall: 1.2 inches

Tahoe Outdoors: Snowpack survey

The California Department of Water Resources snow survey on Feb. 28 confirmed what we all know: the snowpack is falling further and further behind average. The water content of the snowpack actually did not fall much in February, but in a normal February it would have been growing, so instead it fell behind the average. The snowpack at Phillips Station near Echo Summit was 29 inches and the water content was 54 percent of average. Statewide the average was 66 percent, about half where it stood on New Years Day.
