Not sure why they get such good reviews. Maybe people have never had an actual good breakfast experience. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing? I got migas and my wife got BBQ chicken tacos. The migas plate was mediocre at best - there was nothing special about it, and the food was borderline bland in general. The BBQ sauce on the chicken tacos tasted like ketchup. All that for rude comments from the guy doing the wait list and a longer-than-necessary wait. Won't be back! Won't recommend!

Magnolia has been a fan favorite of my parents since they lived in Austin decades ago! I grew up eating here every time a road trip passed through Austin, and now that I live close I've been taking all of my friends. Pancakes every time, you can't go wrong with them and the gingerbread pancakes are simply incredible. Everything on the menu tastes fresh and good, and out of 20 people taken there only one hasn't raved about it. The schedule lets you hit it up any time of day, no matter how late.

While the quality of food is always excellent, the increases in prices and the steady decline in customer service is just not worth my money anymore.

I loved sitting at my table for 20 minutes after I was seated. Then informed that "we've never had Mac & cheese on the menu" after I regularly get from the Lake Austin location. So either my waitress didn't care and lied or the locations have different menus so that's fun.

It's been years since I've been here, until today. I can't believe that I forgot how amazing the food is. The best flavor possible in every bite. The Martian Landscape, (home fries with cheese, jalapeños and green onions,) is great. The quesadillas are great too. The guac burger almost killed me it was so good. Must stop thinking about it. Must.

Too bad they now have a too cool for school approach to customer service. It is as if they feel they are too cool to be food servers and hosts and don't have to go through the motions of actually engaging anyone. It started with my host who walked up to me and stopped 10ft. away and asked me a question and when I spoke she said she couldn't hear me... I wanted to say, "that is because most adults actually speak to you from 2-3 ft. away and have a normal conversation." Then I sat down and they waiter was simply miserable and seemed to rather be at a skate park at 4am... $2.50 for an 8oz. cup of the worst coffee ever. My omelet came out in 3 mins and was barely warm. I really do hate writing really bad reviews and I almost never do it but this time I had too. Kirby Lane will get my next shot!

What can you say about Magnolia that has not already been said. It's an Austin staple, especially late, late at night. Their food is good and comforting. The atmosphere is great, especially after any big event in Austin. It can get ridiculously busy so be aware of that. It's in the same vein as the Omlettery and Kerbey Lane.
