Introductions  -

Hi everyone,

I'm Nina Liakos, and I will be participating in this session both as a Minecraft newbie and as the session mentor (representative from the EVO Coordination Team).

I've retired from teaching after 43 years. I've been involved in the EVO in one capacity or another for the past 10 years.

I'm looking forward to learning how to "play", although I won't be using the game in a classroom setting.

I hope so, but right now I am struggling to make Minecraft work on my computer, which is old and apparently has some problems with the drivers required. I hope it won't deter my joining the session, as I would like to learn the game. But I can't purchase a new computer now, so if I can't make it work I will just stay in the background here.

Questions needing attn  -

Okay after I reset my computer, the Minecraft I had downloaded disappeared. Do I need that? If I need it, how to get it without paying again? Thanks.

Don't worry, Robert! My computer is old; since I don't really need a cutting edge computer in retirement, I am choosing to wait to replace it. It's actually working pretty well since I reset it; at least my Win10 Start Menu is back! :-)

While I would have had fun learning to punch trees and such, this can wait. Enjoy, you all, and I will lurk.

Eleni is going to use my avatar (Clementine123) during the session, so it won't go to waste.

Can beauty pageants focus on skill and intelligence and less on appearance? What do you think?
“Here she is — Miss America!”   While that somewhat sappy song may dredge up images of scantily-clad women traipsing across a stage, the Miss America pageant actually focuses on talent and intelligence as well as beauty. As a result, today’s contestants are not only among the most beautiful women in the nation, but also the most intelligent, poised, and socially aware.   Case in point is the current Miss Massachusetts, Lauren Kuhn.   A native o...

What a cutie pie! I had a very large tortoise in the garden in Bridgeport years ago. Always a surprise and a delight to see him/her.
