The language of citizenship and immigration contains a lot of confusing terms. Phrases like 'second passport', 'citizenship by investment', 'economic citizenship', 'residency', ‘golden visa’ are often thrown around in the same sentence which can lead us naturally to believe they are all one and the same thing. When looking into investment programmes to become a citizen or a resident of a country, keep in mind that these terms all mean different things, so it is important to understand the differences.
