It's officially June and things are starting to heat up here in the city. Stay cool by checking out some of our tips on where to take a swim in the city.

Our favorite place? Georgetown Waterfront! Enjoy the beautiful view of the Potomac while splashing around in the fountains. Perfect for kids and big kids at heart.

#TBT to when the Washington Monument was still covered in scaffolding. We love that the Monument has finally reopened, but it didn’t look too bad then either.

We highly recommend these tours. Our family took four of these tours recently while in DC and they were all wonderful. The guides are informative and fun. You can tell that they love their job! We also loved that we got to decide what we wanted to pay the guides, if anything. Next time we are in DC we will definitely be taking more of the tours. I'd love to take the architectural tour with Carolyn, next time we are there.

We had such a wonderful time! The tour was very informative, kept a good pace and we learned a lot! We had 3 11 year old's with us -- and two of them asked a lot of questions of our guide! This was a great experience and a good way to learn about history. We really want to come back and do the "Ghosts of Georgetown" tour. Thanks so much for all your help with our large group. It was really appreciated! Karen

My girlfriend and I have had great experiences a number of times with your tour service and we wouldn't miss the opportunity with the Lincoln Assassination tour during our stay in DC. The tour guide was remarkably informative and patient, he showed an enthusiasm via his dense knowledge base and his intrigue of the peculiar events that occurred on the day of Lincoln's assassination. He even entertained our group with additional after-tour stories and a few more little tidbits and historical nuggets. During our tour we had a few 'hiccups' due to white house guests and construction but our tour guide contained the group and tour quite efficiently. It was by far one of the best tours that I have had and I have already recommended it to a few friends and other DC visitors.

We've lived here for a year, but we don't tend to do "touristy" things until company visits. I'm so glad our friends introduced us to this company! We took the Ghosts of Georgetown tour and the National Mall tour. Both Erin and Matilda were excellent guides. You can tell that they love what they do. The tours were extremely informative and I can't wait to take more!

I am the type of person who is always wondering if the people I see on vacation are having more fun than I. I always assume I am missing out on something that others are doing. This is the first time I didn't worry. In fact, I felt sorry for the people who chose to take a different tour around D.C. I was fortunate enough to book three tours: D.C. Memorials with Carolyn Muraskin, Lincoln's Assassination with Ricky Bobby, and Arlington National Cemetery with Erin Dunn. On they day of the tour, I was sent an email reminding me where to go along with a picture of what the place looked like. There was absolutely no concerns of becoming lost trying to find the meeting point. The number of people touring was limited making it feel intimate. Keep in mind I was traveling with my ten year old son, thirteen year old daughter, and two additional adults. There was never a moment when any of us were bored. I am not sure who learned more my children or me. Not only were these three tours informative, each guide was able to provide unfamiliar stories about famous people in and around Washington. All three guides were interesting and passionate about the tours. There were stories in each tour that connected to all three places we toured. In addition they made sure we were not congested with other tourists, directed us to the nearest metro, and recommended fun places to dine. I honestly can't say enough about this program. I do know I will never tour a city without Free Tours by Foot.

My husband and I both just recently visited Washington and had Ricky Bobby as our tour guide for the Natonal Mall Evening tour. He was excellent and very much made our trip to Washington a memorable one. Lots of information, fun facts and presented very well. Keep up this good thing going so travellers like us will be able to enjoy your service in most countries in the world! Thank you again.

I am sooo glad I found about DC by foot and doubly glad that Chris was available. Coming in, I came across a lot of good reviews on Trip Advisor and boy did it live up to they hype! Chris was the guide for the All-in-one tour I booked , during the April 11-14 Cherry Blossom festival weekend & he was absolutely fantastic. His enthusiasm and passion for the various historical event & iconic leaders was contagious and more than once, I got goosebumps listening to him explain the symbolic meaning behind the design & positioning of the different memorials. Once again - just really, really glad that I came across DC by foot and for these awesome tours - really a unique and amazing way to see & learn about the city! Will be booking more tours in the future!

I can't say enough about how perfect our tours were with Kara and Becca. Our first night in DC we did the National Mall tour with Kara which turned out to be an ideal introduction to the monuments and DC. Even the kids loved it! Becca was our guide for Arlington Cemetary which was not only incredibly informative but she knew the answers to everyone's questions! Both guides not only made it fun and interesting but left you with wanting more information. They spoke loud enough for everyone to hear and waited for the group to catch up everytime. Our girls followed right behind them like the Pied Piper. Highly recommend these tours and will definitely seek them out in other locations!!
