Over the past few weeks our technical team have been working hard on improving and speeding up our domain name search functions. The domain search on our site was slow. It was unwieldy and it simply wasn't "fun" using it. They're still working on improving how domain names are displayed to you on our site,…

A couple of tips for saving money on data when travelling overseas http://michele.cat/jo
One of the bigger challenges when you’re travelling overseas are data charges. While you might be able to access wifi in your hotel and in some coffee shops and restaurants, it’s not a “given” that you’ll have access to free (or affordable) wifi when you’re on the road. (I’ve found at times that even though …

Vodafone Red's roaming gives 200Mb/day, for €3/day.  Seeing as I'm only getting 2Gb/month on my usual plan at home, that's more than sufficient!

So you like watching Netflix? TV shows, documentaries, movies - you can lose hours in there, I know! But what if you could get paid for it as well? No, I'm not kidding! It turns out that Netflix employ actual humans as taggers . Their job is to watch Netflix content, and then generate tags to he

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. (attributed to Edmund Burke) We are strong advocates of a free and open internet. We believe in keeping the internet open and unrestricted. But we are also very conscious of the many evils that exist out there. It is our duty

Stop marketing for someone else - market your own domain name NOT somebody else's

Building up a brand is hard work. It takes time. It takes energy. So if you are going to spend time, money and effort on building up your brand, shouldn't you be focussing on YOUR brand and not somebody else's? What am I talking about? Blogs and social media. Yes, we use them and we…

Net Neutrality with puppies, dragons and cats .. Net Neutrality has received a lot of media attention over the last few months. What's it about? Why should we care? What are the different elements? What is the impact?

Fantastic film - well worth watching
Aaron Swartz took his own life in January of last year. Since then there has been a lot written about his short life and untimely death. The new documentary film by Brian Knappenberger "The Internet's Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz" was released last week. The film takes its title from a quote f

An interesting take on the 'right to be forgotten" debacle

The renovated rooms are lovely. The staff are helpful and the main bar / restaurant is pretty good. It's one of my preferred hotels in Dublin city

Very good location in the heart of Carlow town. Their carvery lunch is very good and quite reasonably priced. Not a bad spot for a drink in the evening, though it can get a bit mobbed with students
