Great food, great cocktails, and great times at the last great little beach town on the Central Coast.

I would never go back to Sly's in Carpinteria. The food made me sick. The steak smelled of animal waste. I tried to politely call back the next day to tell them what had happened and they said i was just trying to get something for nothing. i wanted to warn them most of all that their food was off. The dessert was freezer burned and inedible as well, which i did mention that night, but was to embarrassed to mention the steak until it made me ill.It made 3 of us sick. The way it was handled by the owners that upset me the most. They were rude and short tempered on the phone and didn't call me back for days, i had to call them. I have lived in Santa Barbara for 30 years. I have eaten at Sly's several times and usual had a decent meal, but theres not a lot of choices in Carp. The only good beef is the grass fed from Ojai. I forgot to ask specifically for that, thinking it was all grass fed. I went with the waitresses rec. for the smallest steak, which turned out to be the most expensive steak(which she didn't tell me) on the menu and tasted terrible. So..the costumer is definitely not right there..they make sure of that, and let you know..DONT EAT AT SLYS

I think the restaurant had a problem this last Sunday for brunch. Food was mediccre and the staff was having breakfast as we came in. Usually not this way.

Top of the line, right here folks. Sly's is style and they know how to do it. It's worth every penny you put into it. Ordered the Spanish style pound of mussels and creamed spinach, both were excellent. The waiter and rest of the staff knew their stuff. Actually, our main waiter got loaded with tables in his area all at once and other staff immediately stepped in to help. Well organized restaurant experience.

Great service. Food good, but not as great as I expected for the price. Need to dim the lights a bit.

Worst Bloody Mary! Their special mix was tomato juice and lemon juice?? I've been a bartender for 20+ years and it was the horrendous Mary I have ever tasted. Customer service was just as good. We asked the bartender to make the Marys the way we liked them so, she rudely and sarcastically threw the ingredients in without measuring - still turned out terrible. The Manager came over to help and shrugged his shoulders and said "what do you want me to do?” Well, be a manager would be nice! Then while paying for our drinks, they were different prices for the same drink in the same sizes?!? Management didn’t care about “New Customers” but catered to the regulars without knowing anything about us. They even kept trying to move us around to accommodate regulars who might show up! This seems financially destructive. Shame on Slys! After leaving there and moving on to other places around them, all of the people we met had nothing good to say about them Slys, and also said that the owners wouldn’t care if we told them how we were treated! How do places like this stay in business? Not for long is my prediction

Sadly the food and services have gone down hill. After being used to good service and quality food, Sly's has deteriorated over the last years or so. I had a Jumbo shrimp cocktail awhile back, which smelled so bad had to throw them away. I emailed the restaurant but didn't hear back. Have tried it a couple more times over the past 12 months and it was ok, not great like it used to be. My wife had lunch with friends today, Sand dabs , said they were good, bought me a Steak-Frites, first the waitress forgot to order them so my wife had to wait for them, then when I saw them they were little bits of soggy potatoes, the steak was under cooked, she had ask for it to be well done. They were busy, but that's no excuse to give bad food and service. Hate to complain, because Sly and his wife are a lovely couple and friendly hosts.

It just doesn't get any better than Sly's. The food, the cocktails, the desserts, the staff. Everything is top-notch at this fine restaurant mere blocks from the world's safest beach!

One of my favorites since moving back. Great steaks, burgers, fish, and definitely the best mixed drinks in town.

Sly's hasn't shared anything with you.

People are more likely to share with you if you add them to your circles.
