It is common for companies to jump into social media because they want to stay competitive and don't want to be left out.

I will be the first to admit that it is great for SEO, but it is more important to speak to the right audience with quality information than it is to have an account for the sake of having one. 

Think about your audience and decide WHICH platform is best for you. Next, evaluate the capacity you have to create a quality social media campaign and then you can start having fun!
