I visit this ramen shop pretty frequently to call myself a regular - because it's a pretty delicious ramen shop and there's free 2 hour validated parking in the plaza lot unlike other restaurants near Little Tokyo. The wait during a typical dinner time can range from 30 minutes to 90 minutes. There is a wait sheet and usually you can write your name down walk around a bit if there are a lot of people ahead of you (and you chose to sit inside). Otherwise if you choose to sit outside, the typical wait can range from 15 minutes to 60 minutes. The only downside is no alcohol if you were to sit outside. I get the Hakata ramen with a small Chashu bowl and that will keep me bloated. As for sides, you can't go wrong with corn, extra chashu (for the extra noodle) and eggs. The Albacore Carpaccio is pretty good too if you're craving some sliced albacore. TL;DR: Chashu Bowl + Hakata Ramen is the way to go. Tips: Check in with Facebook to get free noodles!

Service and food excellent! Love the fact you can customize your ramen in flavor, oil, and firmness. Great varieties on the menu for other things also. Service is great and fast! Good to know that they don't serve alcohol on the patio. If you don't want to wait and there's room on patio then just ask to sit there.

I've been a fan of shin sen gumi hakata ramen for years now, but I usually hit up the one in Gardena since it's closer. I just happened to be in the area though and was really hankering for it. When I first got there the line didn't seem to bad but seriously I had to have waited over 30 min for a seat at the counter! Well it's not their fault they're so popular--don't do the crime if you aint' got the time... All was well once I was seated and got my ramen and side of spam musubi. I like adding on the spicy miso for extra oomph and this really hit the spot. Service is usually good and this location was no exception--love all the energetic shouting!

I usually get Hakata ramen with the spicy miso topping. The Yaki ramen is also really good.

Long waits at this location, or almost every location for that matter, but the ramen is solid. Great place to introduce the uninitiated to real ramen; the restaurant allows you to customize the broth and noodles to your preference.

Best place in Little Tokyo for ramen that you can completely customize. Be prepared for long waits during meal times and for the workers to yell out Japanese sayings through the course of your meal. And I really mean they yell.

Shinsengumi is pretty well known to the ramen loving crowd. This location is one of the most recent additions to the chain and it is also just as crowded. Some nights you may find yourself lucky and have less than a 5 minute wait, but most of the nights I come here, I almost always have at least a 20 minute wait. You can pretty much judge it by the crowd waiting outside in the cold. Hikari was our server for this night. We were half drunk, but ready to drink more. Although there was a bit of a Japanese language barrier when ordering, the food just felt that much more authentic. Hikari was still super attentive and was already amused at our sake dropping ways. -=-Hakata Ramen-=- For a franchise, the ramen here is just delicious. You get options for your noodles, strength of your broth, and also additions to add. I always get my ramen hard and my soup strong. I also add extra meat and egg to the mix. It ends up being an almost ten dollar bowl of ramen, but it's definitely much tastier. At my first sip, I was definitely loving it. It was the strong soup base that did it. Do yourself good and get it strong. Another tip is that you can always request to add more noodles to your broth when you run out for a nominal but smalll fee of course. I think I'm gonna get some now. Cold night.
