Ioun Stone Blues
Assuming that the gem was a pale blue and rhomboid in shape, you're looking at a stone that now adds 1 point to strength (18 maximum).

If it is more of an incandescent blue and a sphere, then you'll be adding 1 point to wisdom (18 maximum).

+Sean P Kelley and I wrapped up Ep. 37 where we talked about PC gen - doing it at the table/first session or before the game.  Bit of a softball topic, but next week I've got something tougher on tap.

More Smoke Markers
I'm currently waiting for some more models to arrive (z scale railway track all the way from Japan!) but in the meantime I couldn't just sit around and do nothing. My idle hands have therefore been employed making more smoke markers for my 6mm WWII games. I...

Generating Player Characters

Do you do it in a group, or just get it done so we can get on with the adventure?

We talk about it on this week's show!
Generating player characters, it can be done together or solo. How do you do it? What makes sense or does it matter?

Just in case you needed a bit of extra $ in that Pelgrane Press order.

Hey, $3 is $3!

Tipped the scales for me on the Double Tap PDF.

Bait and Switch
A number of years ago I started a game with my group that was billed as a Delta Green game, complete with Lovecraft Mythos style monsters, cults, cool covert govt agents, etc.  We played that way for two sessions and then, in at the end of the third session, I killed all the characters via a organized cult slaughtering which plunged the characters into White Wolf's Wraith.  I then ended that session and we re-tuned their characters as Wraiths, and pushed ahead at the next session.

It was my intention the whole time to take them into Wraith but I didn’t tell the group anything about it up front.  They were all set for that Delta Green storyline and I let them go 100% in that direction as I wanted it to be a total shock when I did the switch up.  They loved it and dove into it - and we all had a hell of a good time.

I played that campaign through for the rest of that year, we had a total of about 10 sessions or so (we play once a month for about 6-8 hours each session).

Great show... I guess i see epic and high level gaming as two different types of RPG play.
To me epic gaming is the long running, large area of play, big picture events. The level of the players start low and work their way up in the game. The level of the characters does not change the idea that the game is epic.
To me high level gaming is starting the characters at a high level 10-15-20th. This can be so the party can take on a god, super monster or other high level enemies. The event and location of this type of play is smaller and not as long lasting, there are only so many gods to kill..lol
I myself like the epic game type the best. It builds the character reason for being. It builds the the party's reason for being together.
Thanks again
P.S. I am unsure listening to your podcast made me a B.S.er....lol I think this may have happened a long time ago....

At the Mountains of Madness - Radio Play
+Christopher Sniezak - this radio drama version of the Mts of Madness is pretty fun, and it's $5.95 on iTunes.  It's the Atlanta Radio Theater Company; they do couple good HPL radio dramas.

The "Hour of the Wolf" drama that comes with this is, IMO, quite horrible, so you've been warned on that :-)

There's also the Dark Adventure Radio Theatre production from the guys at the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society, the same group responsible for the excellent film adaptations of The Call of Cthulhu and The Whisperer In Darkness!
