I feel like we have walked into an empty party. Has everyone packed up and gone home?

What a pack of idiots. Left hand doesn't know what right hand is doing AND they think they have the right to help themselves to my money. Yep, without consent and under investigation, they took $$$'s, lots of it. NEVER EVER deal with them, leave now while you still can.... I am not happy at all

Well where do i start. I would not touch this provider if it is the last one on earth. We have paid for limited "Ultra fast fibre" internet for $95 a month which sounded great, they were all friendly and helpful getting us signed up to a year plan. But once we were locked it, they just become an absolute pain in the back side. Firstly our "Ultra fast fibre" internet is as fast as dial up was back in the 90s. Try ringing up and asking for advice on how to improve it, but have all these barriers preventing us from even trying to get them to come in and see whats the problem. Secondly you can only use their "Special" routers (aka make more money from us) when we ask them if we could get a better router to potentially speed up the internet they completely declined. All in all would stay away from it even if my life depended on it. You would be better off buying data on your phone and hot spotting yourself rather than getting locked in with orcon

Absolutely terrible, do not go with this internet provider. My circustances changed and I had to move and remove myself from my account. I fortunately convinced the tenant taking over to carry on with the 8 months left on my internet plan. Then unfortunately due to this person experiencing terrible customer service and being wrongly informed of the costs she decided she did not want to sign up with Orcon which was totally understandable. This then meant I was charged cancellation fees. They were non negotiable on this even though I argued had they provided correct information and good customer service to the person taking over my account, I would not have been in the costly predicament I ended up in. Not to mention the hours of my own time I wasted on the phone and via email. If you like a service that doesn't care about their customers then Orcon is for you! With these terrible reviews, no wonder Orcon charges $250 if you don't return the modem.

Recently upgraded to "unlimited" Fibre with Orcon. Most mornings (5-9) we have a limited wired or wireless connection. Too often (as is the case this morning) we have no internet (so while at home we have to use phone data). This is on Wellington's cbd area. Their customer service is such that a reply could take upwards of 4 weeks. I intend to change provider.

If I could give negative stars I would. The short review: POTENTIAL ORCON CUSTOMERS i highly recommend you read the long review to see just how bad they are. Do not sign up with orcon, they are absolutely incompetent, promoting 1st world Internet yet providing you with third world Internet quality and service. Especially if you want fibre. Now the long review: Orcon has been by far the worst service I have ever had to deal with. Worse than studylink or inland revenue. if you are wanting fibre DO NOT sign up with orcon. I understand chorus has a major impact on fibre setup, however orcon has somehow managed to do everything in their power to make the process slower and more frustrating. First off it took 2 months to be connected to the interim adsl (I was told within 10 days) during which time we were left with no connection at all and no one could give a reason as to why it took so long. I was also told I would receive an email and text message when my connection was set up which never came. We were told fibre takes up to 5 weeks from the day the initial connection comes into place but that didn't happen. After speaking with chorus they told me my order would be much longer than expected and I may want to look at contacting my is to get vdsl as a better speed during the wait. I called to see if I could swap to vdsl as I was not putting up with their slow adsl connection during the extended wait period. After being told that I would receive a call back from someone in regards to this (which never happened as I found to become a regular occurrence with them) I finally found out that it is their "policy" to put you on the slowest possible interim connection while fibre is connected. There is no option to switch to vdsl. The only way I could do this was at the start (which I was not informed about, nor was I told they made all internet connections for my plan the same price.) After trying to discuss all options with their support team who simply do not care and just follow scripted messages they are given, I finally had to give in and cancel my fibre order (and therefore my adsl interim connection) in order to get vdsl. Once that would be connected I then needed to re-order fibre. This completely does not make sense and it all comes down to the pointless policies that they have in place which other isp's do not have. This is only the beginning of my troubles. I am currently writing this on my Vodafone mobile data ( which at times is faster than orcons adsl they forced me onto) I received an email today informing me my vdsl order would be connected today, I called up and asked when I could expect to have it connected and if there would be any downtime. I was told that it would be up and ready by 6 pm with around 10 minutes of downtime at max... Well here I am at 9 pm with absolutely no Internet connection yet again and no one seems to know why (once again ). The only answer I could get was to send someone to check the connection and get an answer by tomorrow. This was the last straw for us and we will be contacting you tomorrow to cancel and don't think that we are paying a cancelation fee for our contract. We ordered and were told what we would get however we have not once been provided with the service we ordered. Not Once! If you are from orcon and reading this I dont want an apology, that is all that we have gotten with nobody doing anything to resolve our issues. It is obvious that you have absolutely no care for your customers and have made it impossible to talk with a normal person who is willing to help fix or to at least come to a compromise. I know exactly how negative reviews can impact a company and I will be showing everyone I know. You have lost a potentially loyal customer for life!

Everything works well until you try to cancel your account. Do not be fooled into thinking you cannot give them notice to cancel within your contract term. They will try everything in their power to squeeze an extra month from you. I had a 12 month contract and informed them of my wish to cancel on the anniversary on that sign up date. All their emails were carefully worded to imply that this could not be done. If read carefully, and you argue, they will agree to it.

Had been suggested to use Orcon as our student flat's network provider. I have to say this is the biggest waste of money and time, we paid for the upgrade to fibre as ordinary connection was not cutting it. The upgrade to fibre has done nothing but disappoint. If you have any sense at all do not sign with Orcon they will waste your money and time.

It would take me hours to describe all the problems i have had with orcon. Initially everything set up and installed fine then we moved. We get messages to say internet is being connected, then no one turns up, then its being connected again and again no one turns up, 4-5 times this went round. With all of these we are having to phone orcon to find out what is going on. Eventually we get the internet working then we find out were going to be cut off because we havent paid our bill, despite having a direct debit set up. After phoning a few more times the issue was 'raised' which means nothing has happened. They dont bother replying to emails. At least the internet is reliable
