Documenting a block for Mission Local with +Esterina Gentilcore was a blast. Local people, sign up for a block before they're all gone.
It’s 5:57 am and golden-hour.com tells us that we have a 38 minute window of perfect light for photography. Our block – Mission, 29th, San Jose, 30th – doesn’t look like much from above. Just a Safeway parking lot, right? Two years spent living across the street from this neighborhood classic, but recently repainted sign taught us this block has much more to offer. For starters, it has the best tacos in The Mission. Hands down. Never mind that o...

Oh man, we tried to rock the Kasbah (ancient castle). But this was about as close as we got before all the "local guides" got so intense that we gave up and turned around.

Performance calendar day #25: #MerryChristmas with +Tony Gentilcore's Engineer's guide to optimization
A solid engineering mindset is key to successful performance optimization. This has been driven into me by the wisdom of engineers such as Bharat Mediratta, Darin Fisher, James Simonsen, Nat Duca, Pat Meenan, Simon Hatch and Steve Souders (to name a few), as well as by trial-and-error during ...

Despite the opportunity to snap a few interesting shots and "check Africa off my continents list," I definitely wouldn't return to Tangier. It's a stressful city where westerners are hassled constantly. The wonders of Spain taunt from across the strait.

Great quality sushi. I especially enjoyed the omakase nigiri and dragon roll.

Amazing beginner class classes. Highly recommended. I do have to complain about the most recent "hot glass, cold beer" event rip off. This once wonderful event has fallen victim to its own success. Advertised as $25 for a hand blown glass and open beer taps. Instead, an hour after doors opened they were giving solo cups and had run out of beer. The party was basically just a big line of thirsty people.

Pittsburgh might learn a thing or two about sandwich making from Philly. The authentic sandwiches here are just alright.

Having been all over Spain, I can say these were the best patatas bravas I've ever had. The rest of the tapas were good too. Very quick and professional service.

My condolences, you've found yourself in the cultural wasteland that is Santana Row. If this place were anywhere else it'd be out of business in less than six months. Here, though, it's actually one of the better options. Anyway, enjoy your bland tacos and beer with lime-mix passed off as a michelada.

What they're making is truly unique. If you think you know Mead, you don't until you come here. If you don't know Mead, come here. The tasting room and tour are an absolute blast and the beverages are subtle and delicious.

Let me just say, the Manly Burger is a marvel of goodness - about as good as burgers get. On the downside, the place feels a bit corporate and the service is scattered. They changed for fries that never showed up and forgot to charge for drinks.
