Monk's Kettle. The pub on the corner that's always packed-that's how I think of it. They have great food and plenty of craft beer to pair with it, but I recommend visiting at an off-time so you're not told to come back in about an hour. The waiters are super friendly and will geek out on beer for you so don't be afraid to ask what you should order. Also note that this place is small, so you may feel like you are sitting with the table next to you (so don't expect your conversation to be private).

The burgers are great and this gastropub has a serious menu to boot, but you'll definitely feel the dent in your wallet afterwards. It's certainly on the pricey side for a bar, but there a high level of quality in the beers and the food here. It seems to be ALWAYS crowded, so good luck getting a seat here. I came here during SF beer week and waited over an hour and a half in line for a special event, so be warned that it can get crazy busy here if there's a special event. However, if you're a beer lover, this should definitely be at the top of your list to try in SF.

Extensive beer selection on draft and bottled, servers knowledgeable on beer pairings, and I think the mussels are the item to get. On busy nights, the wait can be 1-2 hrs so best to go during non-peak times. For parking, I normally go to Folsom and can find a spot. Recent meal: Drink: A sweet sour, Goudenband. Liked it. Food: Penn Cove mussels, Allagash white, shallot, basil, garlic and four slices bread to soak up all the yummy broth. I ate it all!

Had some beers here and while it was a really nice selection, it was really pricey. It's a nice place, but a tad small. The food sounded (and looked) good though, but didn't have it. Unless I happen to be nearby, I probably wouldn't make a special trip for it.

This place has an amazingly extensive beer selection but gets crazy packed. The food is delicious-- best pub food in the city. I take visiting guests here and it is usually the place that they like best. I can't give it 5 because it is too hard to get a table. Otherwise it would be a 5star spot (and the beer can get rather pricey). It is cozy and everything is delicious. The burger and the duck are my particular favorites. THe beer list is constantly changing but they always a huge variety of things to try!

Awesome local bar that serves food and an extensive list of beer. Must try here is the burger and the pretzels. This place is small and get's really crowded at night (weeknights and weekends). Best time to go is in the middle of the day (weekdays and weekends) around 3-4pm.
