When can I sign up for a ride? :)

Imagine: You call your travel service. Ten minutes later, a self driving car turns up at your door. You climb in and 15 minutes later you get out at a regional transport center. You hop into a hyperloop pod and get out 30 minutes later and climb aboard a Virgin Galaxy sub-orbital shuttle and land at London's Heathrow airport a hour later.

A trip to London in under 2 1/2 hours.

All for a monthly subscription fee of $100 / month.

Telsa already has semi autonomous vehicles. Hyperloop One is testing their systems. Burt Rutan has already had a successful sub-orbital flight.

That could be reality in the not to distant future.

Interesting 419 scam being run.  If you get a call from 202-657-5620 or 202-407-9787 saying that you have been awarded a grant, DO NOT give them any banking information or send them any money.

This appears to be a telephone version of a Nigerian 419 scam.  Please share this information with your friends and family (especially anyone who may not be internet savy)

We are living in interesting times. Technology is changing at a faster and faster rate. The time it takes for these changes to be adopted is getting shorter and shorter with impacts for us in political, social and economic arenas.

Income equality looks to be the watchword in this election cycle and it looks like the folks in Washington might finally get the message. The news abounds with stories of how we might:

- Tweek the tax systems to redistribute the wealth
- Improve the social programs to be more comprehensive, efficient, whatever
- Reform the education system to provide our citizens with a better education
- Strengthen the position of unions
- …

These are old played out solutions that have been attempted over and over again to little or no effect. Albert Einstein's classic definition of insanity is “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. That definition certainly seem to fit here.

Part of the problems is that the politicians still don't get it. They are busy treating the symptoms rather then the root cause of the problem. The root cause is the rapid adoption of rapid technology change.

New problems require new thinking. It is way past time that new revolutionary (i.e. out of the box) thinking.  Our new thinking should seek to ensure that every person should:

- Be able to sustain a reasonable subsistence
- Live a long healthy productive life
- Spend their time productively on things they want to do, not things they have to do.
- Have their educational desires met.
